Overview
Field Service Technician
- Raymond West is looking for a Field Service Technician to join our service team. The primary objectives are: (1) proficient repair and service of the customer's equipment, (2) maintain good communication with customers, peers, and management, (3) represent and sell the entire company, (4) maintain and exceed productivity goals, (5) work within all safety guidelines established by Raymond West and OSHA. Raymond West provides end-to-end warehouse solutions and industry-leading expertise in lift trucks, racking, conveyor, dock and door, rentals, parts, and service to keep customer businesses running.
Duties and Responsibilities
Repair all types of equipment that Raymond West sells and services. Update training and skills on a continuing basis. Train other employees as needed. Maintain a profitable billing level. Follow all Service Department procedures. Communicate with the assigned Field Supervisor. Complete all paperwork transactions in a timely, neat, accurate, and orderly fashion. Communicate all options to customers before proceeding with work. Have the necessary tools to perform repair and scheduled service work. Complete jobs within quoted time limits when applicable. Maintain a clean and orderly vehicle (inside and outside). Maintain an accurate assigned parts inventory, if applicable. Always represent the entire company. Pass Raymond Certification and re-certification if applicable. Maintain good working knowledge of customers and equipment in assigned areas. Maintain an acceptable driving record as established by the company’s insurance carrier. Report accidents whether self or customer. Account for 100% of available time during working hours. Be willing to work overtime when necessary and coordinate overtime with the supervisor. Follow all procedures in the Employee Handbook and safety procedures, using good judgment regarding safety. Be willing to work out of town as necessary. Establish a positive rapport with customers. Perform other duties and projects as assigned by Service Supervisors or Managers.
Required Skills/Abilities
Excellent written and verbal communication skills Ability to read, write and speak English fluently Excellent organizational and time management skills Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and similar software Ability to read and interpret safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees Ability to maintain effective working relationships with employees, coworkers, and managers Willing to work off-hours as needed and assume more responsibility as required Ability to fulfill essential job functions in a safe and alert state Self-motivated and able to manage time efficiently Customer oriented and professional behavior Willing to follow mandates and procedures of the Service Department Ability to deal with customers face-to-face Maintain sound working relationships with other technicians and workers Must pass all required certificates for the position Working knowledge of basic DC electricity, basic AC electricity, internal combustion, and diesel engines Ability to write routine reports and correspondence Mathematical proficiency and ability to apply measurements Raymond Level 1 Certification or working toward it, if applicable Valid driver’s license with an acceptable driving record Maintain own tools and keep additional tools as required by duties and certification level Take direction, be a team player, and work with peers Working knowledge of hydraulic systems and general mechanical abilities Maintain a clean, neat, and professional appearance Willing to learn quickly and perform accurately with flexibility Motivated to continuous self-development and training Willing to assume more responsibility as required
Education/Experience
Minimum Education and Experience: Determined by position. High school diploma, GED, or equivalent Minimum of 3 years breakdown experience or comparable service experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience
Travel Requirement
Based in the field with daily travel within assigned territories Technicians will be provided a company vehicle and a company fuel card Must be able to be insured by Raymond West

Pay Range
The hourly range for this position is $22.90 - $49.90. The specific pay offered will depend on factors including experience, education, and location.
