POWER Engineers
Overview
Construction Engineer. Location: Client’s service territory in south Louisiana. The construction engineer is responsible for the safe and efficient planning, coordination, and execution of construction activities related to substation and transmission line construction projects in the service territory. This position is partially in the field and may require travel.
Required Education/Experience
Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent industry-related experience) from an accredited university – engineering, engineering management, construction management, or project management disciplines
Ten (10) or more years of equivalent industry-related experience in engineering, construction, and/or electric power industry
Experience in project scheduling, reporting, and administration
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
Attention to detail and commitment to quality and professionalism
Excellent written and oral communication skills
Knowledge and experience with project management processes and tools
Strong understanding of project lifecycles
Excellent computer skills
Familiarity with various scheduling techniques
Excellent organizational skills
Ability to work effectively with competing priorities and stressful situations
Must have a current and valid driver’s license
Job Responsibilities
Assist Construction Manager in managing capital projects through the entire life cycle from definition to closeout
Participate as a member of project teams to develop project scope, project cost estimate, and project schedule
Attend site field/scope visits as required
Assist Project Manager / Project Controls in developing schedule, including critical paths
Develop detailed construction plans and identify outage requirements to implement new facilities
Identify required construction permits and engage ROW and/or Environmental departments as needed
Develop detailed construction estimates
Coordinate with Entergy stakeholders regarding outages that affect customers
Develop construction contract bid packages; review responses and participate in vendor selection
Develop bid package/RFP; conduct pre-bid meetings with contractors
Participate in design constructability reviews for all disciplines to minimize change orders during construction
Identify and address potential project safety hazards and environmental concerns
Monitor and report on project construction schedule and cost
Perform quality assurance checks during construction
Ensure productivity tracker tool is updated daily
Monitor schedule and progress versus in-service date
Close out construction contracts and as-built documentation
Ensure compliance with Entergy procedures and regulatory requirements
Coordinate with commissioning engineer to ensure required documentation/testing is performed
