The Manufacturing Engineer Co-op will work on advanced manufacturing techniques and process improvement projects for cost reduction at the Cedar Rapids, IA facility.
Immersed in a full‑time, Monday‑Friday co‑op session, the candidate will run from May/June through December (including the Fall semester; students take a semester off from coursework to fully engage).
What You Will Do
Connect machines and automation equipment utilizing I4.0 methods, Banner hardware, Kepserver, and alternative engineering methods.
Identify, develop, and deploy I4.0 technologies to connect automation (e.g., robotic cells, PLC/HMI, SCADA, machine vision) across the factory.
Collaborate with Operations, DT, Cyber, and Engineering teams to identify and remove digital infrastructure barriers to smart manufacturing deployment.
Compile information on cell performance and productivity so that manufacturing performance can be analyzed.
Support automation, robotics, optical inspection, data analysis, and visualization.
Plan sequence of operations and specification procedures for advanced manufacturing equipment and other processes that affect manufacturing performance and address safety concerns.

Process simulation and capacity analysis.
Adapt machine or equipment design to factory and production conditions.
Sequencing of work such as build and delivery to ensure smooth operations and optimal use of resources.
Collins Aerospace products, lean manufacturing objectives, test philosophy, and state‑of‑the‑art manufacturing techniques.
Qualifications
High School Diploma or equivalent; student must be pursuing a Bachelor’s or advanced degree in an applicable discipline.
U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are authorized to access information under this program/contract.
Salary range: 37,000 USD - 82,000 USD.
This position is eligible for relocation.
