San Leandro, CA We are looking for a driven mechanical engineer to perform design, development, fabrication, assembly, and test tasks on complex mechanical systems including precision mechanisms and electro-mechanical hardware, in a program team environment working with scientists, engineers, and technicians. The candidate is expected to own larger aspects of the system and be flexible with tasking as programs evolve. Program support and technical leadership over requirements definition, concept generation, material selection, trade studies, design sensitivity/optimization studies, preliminary and final design, design documentation, and assembly/integration and testing may be required. The candidate must have experience in 3D modeling using PTC Creo with large assemblies and complex drawings, familiarity with GD&T and design for manufacturing, and the ability to work independently and within a multi-disciplined team environment. Hands-on work in a lab environment and mechanical intuition are required. Machine shop experience is highly desirable. Structural analysis/FEA experience is a strong plus. Business Unit:

Responsibilities
Design mechanical and electrical systems for large equipment
Prototype, integrate, and test component parts and assemblies
Set up or supervise lab experiments and analyze results to make modifications and recommendations
Develop test plans and procedures for mechanical and/or electro-mechanical systems
Generate technical data packages including part and assembly drawings, reports, and other documents
Present to internal and external stakeholders and participate in peer and other required design reviews
Identify solutions to problems
Adhere to company processes for quality, product development, configuration management, purchasing, etc.
Direct Designers/Technicians as part of a design team
Work with limited supervision in a variety of high-consequence program activities
Other duties as assigned
Qualifications
Bachelor’s Degree and minimum 4 years of prior relevant experience. Graduate Degree and minimum 2 years of prior relevant experience. In lieu of a degree, minimum 8 years of prior related experience.
Skilled at use of 3D design and CAD tools, specifically PTC Creo
Understanding of ASME Y14.5 standards and GD&T
Experience with Design for Manufacturing
Experience with and knowledge of piping, vacuum, oil and water handling, and electrical cabinet systems
Theoretical understanding and practical application of electronic, electro-mechanical, or mechanical disciplines
Use of personal computer in performance of analyses and development of documentation / reports
Structural Analysis and FEA experience using Ansys highly desired
Familiarity with PDM and PLM software, experience with Intralink/Windchill a plus
Experience in electric field analysis a plus
Machining and fabrication experience a plus
Soldering, joining, epoxy/resin experience a plus
Proficient in MS Office products
Compensation & Benefits Base pay range: $87,000.00/yr - $161,000.00/yr
In compliance with pay transparency requirements, the salary range for this role is $87,000 - $161,000. This is not a guarantee of compensation or salary, as final offer amount may vary based on factors including but not limited to experience and geographic location. Fisica Inc. also offers a variety of benefits, including relocation stipend, 401(k), PTO, EAP, and company-paid holidays. The specific programs and options available to an employee may vary depending on date of hire, and schedule type.
