Tesla . Tesla is seeking a highly motivated Manufacturing Controls Engineer to join the Body in White department at our Semi Manufacturing Factory in Sparks, NV. The Manufacturing Controls Engineer will be experienced in automation controls, including Siemens and Allen Bradley PLCs, Fanuc robots, and safety systems. This role involves hands-on involvement on the manufacturing line, emphasizing analytical skills, organization, and attention to detail. Responsibilities include troubleshooting, analyzing, improving systems, and developing PLC code to optimize production. What You'll Do

Lead continuous improvement efforts using data-driven solutions to enhance manufacturing reliability and efficiency. Support production ramp-up by troubleshooting mechanical automation equipment, PLCs, robots, motion controls, and vision systems. Develop and maintain PLCs and HMI software to improve operator and maintenance experiences, ensuring high-quality production. Contribute to equipment conceptual development, considering product specs, process control requirements, layout, cost, quality, and lead time. Create and approve electrical schematics, optimize equipment for safety and efficiency, and update HMI systems. Provide guidance as a SME for PLC and robot logic updates. Address equipment issues, troubleshoot PLCs and robots, and develop maintenance documentation and training materials. Drive continuous improvement of automated equipment to enhance safety, quality, productivity, and costs. Conduct risk assessments and safety evaluations prior to equipment launch. Support 24/7 production operations as needed. What You'll Bring

Degree in Electrical, Mechanical, Mechatronics, or Computer Science, or equivalent experience. Minimum of 3 years' hands-on experience as a controls engineer working with automation and electromechanical systems. Exposure to automated welding equipment (Lincoln Electric) preferred. Proficiency in IEC 61131-3 programming languages, especially structured text and ladder logic. Experience with Siemens, SICAR protocol PLCs, and Safety PLCs. Proficiency in HMI/SCADA systems (e.g., WinCC, TIA Portal, Ignition). Knowledge of Ethernet communications, script programming (Python, Java), motor drives (SEW EURODRIVE, Siemens G120/S120), and field bus networks. Ability to select and integrate circuit protectors, sensors, safety hardware, PLC hardware, and other components. Preferred experience in robot programming (Cartesian, SCARA, Articulated). Strong troubleshooting, root cause analysis, and problem-solving skills under tight timelines. Benefits
