Università degli Studi di Padova
Structural and electronic properties of complex materials for photocatalytic app
Università degli Studi di Padova, Italy, New York, United States
Overview
Organisation/Company: Università degli Studi di Padova
Research Field: Chemistry
Researcher Profile: Recognised Researcher (R2); Leading Researcher (R4); First Stage Researcher (R1); Established Researcher (R3)
Country: Italy
Application Deadline: 28 Oct 2025 - 23:59 (UTC)
Type of Contract: To be defined
Job Status: Not Applicable
Is the job funded through the EU Research Framework Programme? Not funded by a EU programme
Is the Job related to staff position within a Research Infrastructure? No
Offer Description Use of multi-scale/multi-physics numerical approaches for the study of the structural, electronic, and optical properties of complex materials for photochemistry and photocatalytic applications. This research aims at understanding the role of composition and structural disorder (including defects) on the electrical and optical response of the complex materials able to interact with light, such as plasmon -sustaining materials. Particular, attention will be dedicated to surfaces of amorphous substrates and their coupling with crystalline layers and/or molecular targets. The research activity will involve the modelling of realistic atomic structures and interfaces by using classical molecular dynamics and the simulation of their electronic and optical properties through ab initio techniques. The study of unconventional materials and interfaces will also require the generation of proper force fields, by using machine-learning aided approaches
