Position Summary: The Controls Engineer is responsible and accountable for engineering the electrical and controls portion of orders based on the project assigned to them. The engineer specifies all electrical and controls material for procurement, designs equipment as required and determines the applicability of existing designs to the customer order. Knowledge of controls methods and technology as it relates to combustion equipment is important. Relies on education, experience and judgement to plan and accomplish goals. Primary Responsibilities:
Designs combustion control systems, meeting all project milestone dates. Integrates clear and succinct written and verbal communications to various departments inside and outside to engineering to ensure technical specifications are met. Communication is written at the technical level of the intended audience. Design and check Control Panel drawings to ensure that the equipment will meet its functional requirements. Programs PLCs and HMIs using the platform and products specified by the job order. Determine suitability of instrumentation and controls equipment not manufactured by Bloom for its intended purpose. Provide timely technical assistance and solutions. Is the person primarily responsible for successful field commissioning of Bloom Control Systems for assigned projects. Has expertise in a few areas of instrumentation, electrical, and controls, particularly in tackling difficult problems. Prepare engineering documents for customer submittal. Fill out timesheets (or whatever method prescribed) to track man hour requirements. Update and maintain product and job records as required. Provide customer training related to the control system, as required. Qualifications and Skills:
Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering. Minimum of 2 years’ experience as a Controls Engineer. Experience supporting global projects, preferred. Must be available for domestic and international travel up to 30% of the time. Knowledgeable in controls methods and technology as it relates to combustion equipment, preferred. Capable of engineering cabinet and subpanel layout drawings, control schematics, P&IDs, and other associated wiring drawings. Knowledgeable in Autocad, Autocad Electrical, or EPlan, preferred. Must be experienced in Programming (HMI/PLC). Knowledgeable and proficient in Rockwell / Allen-Bradley software is required. Knowledgeable and proficient in Siemens software, preferred. Knowledge of ISO 13577, preferred. Ability to maintain composure and take decisive action in high-pressure situations. Excellent communication and training skills. Has some analytical and problem-solving abilities.
