We are looking for an Electrical Controls Engineer to join our team onsite in Harmony, PA.
Position Duties
Support the EAF Engineering -- Electrical & Controls design team helping develop new products, provide custom solutions, and implement new technology to improve EAF steelmaking. Advise the EAF electrical controls and programming team related to automation, programming, and controls work related to projects. Assist and guide E&A team from concept, proposal, order, design, manufacturing, and implementation to ensure projects are completed correctly, on-time and on budget. Ensure that all codes, safety requirements and legal requirements are observed for all work performed. Develop electrical and control systems based on engineering principles and develop equipment and processes that meet safety codes, policies, and guidelines Interface with sales and customers to identify opportunities where we could complete projects successfully. Follow work instructions with minimal supervision to complete and commission engineering projects. Work on engineering projects from initial concept through engineering, manufacturing, testing, installation, commissioning, and startup. Write PLC Logic and HMI screens to automate engineering projects. Understand all hardware and software needed for projects, including the Control, HMI, instrumentation, and end use devices. Problem solving in a systematic way to develop solutions, eliminate problems and improve designs. Provide technical support to Sales, Applications, and Production. Attend seminars and continuing education classes and review technical publications to keep abreast of new technologies. Stay current with new technologies and introduce new technologies to the organization. Configure Control Hardware to interface with customer plant network. Requirements
Engineering degree in Electrical Engineering. 1-10 years of Electrical / Controls Maintenance and Design of equipment for the Steel Industry. Advanced training providing an understanding of Allen Bradley, General Electric, & Siemens PLCs. Knowledge of HMI design software. ISO quality control system training. Combustion and/or process experience is a plus. Proficient knowledge of computer software such as MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, Access). AutoCAD and AutoCAD Electrical. Skills
Requires high-level Technical Problem-solving ability. Must have excellent verbal and written communication skills; Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from teammates, direct reports, management, and internal and external customers. Ability to perform complex Logical thinking to create PLC and HMI Programs. Ability to communicate effectively with all Engineering Department, Sales Department, Plant personnel, and Customers. Technical drawing and documentation viewing, reading, writing, and printing skills Ability to follow and modify electrical drawings, functional descriptions, schematics and electrical drawings such as single line, layout, wiring diagrams, etc. Knowledge of Design Codes and Industry Standards -- NEC / NFPA. Understanding of ISO quality control system procedures and requirements. Highly organized and self-motivated to complete projects on time. Must be able to multitask, handling multiple projects and changing priorities. Strong knowledge in manufacturing operations and Lean manufacturing experience. Knowledge of AS/ISO 9001. Experience working in a mill environment, which includes identifying hazards and following safety requirements. Ability to understand Autodesk Inventor 3-D model geometries and generate 2D AutoCAD drawings. Client-facing communications and travel to site locations are a must. Lead single or multiple product or process improvement projects with a financial scope of up to double digit multi-million dollars from conception to commercialization. Company Benefits
