Black & Veatch Overview Role: Staff Structural Transmission Line Designer. Location: Ann Arbor, MI. Employment type: Full-Time. Relocation eligible: No. What you will do Functions in a project engineering technician capacity. Under general direction, supports engineering and design teams by developing and modifying technical deliverables. Utilizes CAD, BIM, 3D modeling and other design software to create, modify, and maintain technical documentation, drawings, and project deliverables. Provides technical guidance and may offer direction to other engineering professionals and technicians to ensure quality and consistency across project outputs. Applies engineering principles and established design practices to develop moderately complex design concepts and deliverables. Performs design calculations, material quantity estimates, and reviews deliverables for consistency and compliance with codes and standards. Coordinates with other design group personnel to review and exchange project information; may support field activities. Supports project management processes by defining work assignments and maintaining schedules. Proactively seeks and shares knowledge of latest technologies and processes; supports continuous improvement efforts. Required qualifications and skills Typically a minimum of 5 years related work experience. 3-8 years of related work experience; PLS-CADD experience and utility-scale project experience is preferred. Software skills: Autodesk AutoCAD, Bentley MicroStation (2D/3D) or PLS-CADD. Intermediate knowledge of engineering standards, systems, document control, departmental guides and Black & Veatch policies and procedures. Basic knowledge of construction and constructability practices and principles; basic knowledge of engineering design principles and applicable design guides related to the assigned engineering discipline. Experience in appropriate electronic applications and programs required for performing assignments (CADD or equivalent). Preferred qualifications Diploma or Certificate; Associate Degree in Drafting or Engineering Design Related Technology. Experience with design production, quality programs, and project coordination.
