Position Summary
Provide engineering support for the commissioning, engineering, and construction departments. Including reviewing design documents and controls drawings for potential issues. Provide recommendations and solutions as required. Provide engineering expertise to trouble shoot and solve problem or address issues during any phase of the construction, commissioning, or retro-commissioning process. Validation of a buildings HVAC BAS (Building Automation System) in association and support of the construction team. Execute Brandt controls commissioning process. Support engineering department with review and recommendations, and solutions for in house design build projects. Execute as needed functional performance writing and testing of all equipment and systems as required per project.
Responsibilities
Understand customers expectations and Brandt’s scope of work.
Review proposals from controls contractor for scope, compatibility, completeness and provide feedback.
Review and coordinate sequence of operations of engineering contract documents and controls contractor submittal.
Assist and support construction team within coordination of controls contractor with project schedule, deficiencies, planning and implementation of all control’s contractor related work.
As requited install, wire, remove, design and maintain and repair HVAC building automation systems.
Produce trends and analyze data for systems issues and provide recommendations for corrections and improvement.
Assist in technical RFI writing.
Trouble shoot controls and engineering issues on projects and provide solutions and recommendations.
Support and coordinate with third party commissioning agent for controls related testing and or functional performance testing.
Ensure participation and compliance with company and site-specific safety programs and procedures.
Assist IPG Sales with customer scope development, estimating, and technical analysis/support for retrofits, upgrades and/or enhancements to existing equipment.
Remain informed on the newest trends, strategies, and system enhancements to ensure Brandt continually offers leading-edge commissioning technology and service.
Perform additional assignments as requested/needed.
What You’ll Need To Be Successful
Experience developing and conducting performance testing, validation and troubleshooting of large HVAC and controls systems
OSHA-30 or OSHA 10 certification
Extensive knowledge of engineering and design techniques plus thorough understanding of related engineering disciplines
Thorough understanding of Mechanical Building Codes and Construction Standards
Strong knowledge of pneumatic and DDC controls and controls design
Excellent analytical skills
Excellent verbal communication and technical writing skills
Excellent time management skills
Ability to work autonomously and in a team environment
Ability to successfully create a team environment and motivate subordinates
Excellent organizational skills, with the ability to prioritize and manage multiple projects simultaneously
Advanced computer proficiency, including MS Office
What You Bring To The Table
4-yr. mechanical engineering degree
EIT testing completed
PE license completed or in process for completion
NEBB Certified Professional certified preferred
LEED-accredited Professional certification preferred
