Northrop Grumman Mission Systems is seeking an IMU/IRU Operating Unit (OU) Consulting Chief Engineer based in Woodland Hills, CA. This position reports to the OU Engineering and Sciences Lead, with a dotted-line relationship to the Business Unit Chief Engineer and the OU Director. The role emphasizes collaboration, transparency, team empowerment, continuous learning, and automation. This is a fully onsite position located in Woodland Hills, CA with a 9/80 schedule. RELOCATION ASSISTANCE: Relocation assistance may be available. CLEARANCE TYPE: Secret. TRAVEL: Yes, 10% of the time. Responsibilities

Serve as a trusted advisor to the OU Director on all technical activities and risk posture of programs Develop and drive the OU investment strategy and roadmap, aligning program-level technical decisions across multiple initiatives Provide technical leadership in solving complex engineering challenges, often taking a hands-on approach to problem-solving Review technical proposals and assess program milestones within the OU Play a pivotal role in business development and capture efforts, representing the OU to executives and high-profile external stakeholders Mentor program-level systems engineers and support their professional development Support technical design reviews within the OU, ensuring the integrity and executability of the technical baseline Ensure clarity and consistency of technical requirements, objectives, and constraints Collaborate with system architects to translate customer needs into system-level requirements, attributes, and performance measures Ensure adherence to engineering processes and risk posture Drive initiatives for process development, continuous improvement, and affordability within programs Manage product line risks and opportunities related to system performance, supporting the OU Director Identify and promote reusable technical assets for organizational efficiency Basic Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or a related field with a minimum of 16 years, Master’s degree with 14 years, or PhD with 12 years of relevant experience Extensive background in developing inertial measurement system specifications, requirements, and error budgets Proven experience leading technical execution on complex engineering initiatives Strong technical leadership skills, interfacing with executives, customers, and cross-functional teams Demonstrated ability to create and implement comprehensive technical roadmaps Experience mentoring junior engineers Proven track record in identifying, assessing, and managing risks and opportunities within engineering programs Strong communication skills for technical and non-technical stakeholders Ability to obtain and maintain a DoD Secret Clearance Ability to work onsite full-time in Woodland Hills, California Preferred Qualifications

Extensive experience in a Chief Engineer capacity or equivalent Experience in capture management and proposal efforts Familiarity with EVMS and CAM for budgets and performance metrics Experience leading technical review processes and participating in CCBs Strong analytical skills and ability to drive process improvements and innovation Current DoD Secret security clearance Compensation and Benefits

Primary Level Salary Range: $206,900.00 - $310,300.00. The salary range is a general guideline and may vary based on scope, responsibilities, experience, education, and market conditions. Depending on the position, overtime, shift differential, and discretionary bonuses may apply.
