In keeping with our organization’s goal of improving the lives of the Residents we serve, the Assistant Director of Nursing plays a critical role in providing superior customer service and nursing services to all Residents in the facility. The Assistant Director of Nursing assists the Director of Nursing (D.O.N) in the planning, development and overall operation of the Nursing Department, ensuring Residents receive quality care 24 hours a day. Responsibilities
Assist the D.O.N with planning, directing, and supervising the activities of the nursing staff. Ensure the Nursing Department is in compliance with federal, state, and local regulations. Develop, implement and update department policy and procedures when necessary or as directed. Assist with staffing to ensure Resident needs and regulatory requirements are met at all times. Participate in Federal, State and Local agency annual surveys. Review deficiencies noted by government agencies during inspections and assist with implementing changes needed to correct deficiencies found. Complete annual performance reviews of all subordinate staff. Provide guidance and education to staff regarding performance. Provide counseling and disciplinary action to subordinate staff members as needed. Be responsible for training and educating staff members. Ensure established infection control and standard precaution practices are maintained at all times; follow safety precautions when performing tasks and using equipment and supplies. Report hazardous conditions, damaged equipment and supply issues to the appropriate persons. Maintain resident comfort, privacy and dignity and interact with residents in a warm, respectful, and caring manner. Answer and respond to call lights promptly and courteously in Resident care areas. Assist with new admissions, re-admissions and the transfer of Residents to different rooms within the facility. Communicate and interact effectively with Residents, visitors, families, peers and supervisors. Attend and participate in departmental meetings and in-services. Supervisory Responsibility
This position directly supervises all Nursing staff including but not limited to R.N.’s, L.P.N.’s and C.N.A.’s. Education and Experience
Associates Degree in Science, Nursing or related field Graduate from an accredited nursing program Current State License as Registered Nurse C.P.R. Certified 2 years RN experience Preferred Education and Experience
5 years RN experience Previous experience managing a Nursing department #Yad123
