Job Description
The Plant Manager is responsible for overseeing all aspects of manufacturing operations, ensuring efficient workflow, optimal workforce utilization, and adherence to safety, quality, delivery, and cost (SQDC) objectives. This role plays a critical part in driving continuous improvement, employee engagement, and cross-functional collaboration to meet and exceed production goals in a dynamic manufacturing environment.
Responsibilities
Direct and manage all plant operations related to production and service. Coordinate plant activities through strategic planning with departmental managers to meet manufacturing objectives in a timely and cost-effective manner. Lead initiatives to improve safety, quality, delivery, and cost performance through permanent corrective actions and process improvements. Collaborate cross-functionally with departments and sales channels to support business goals. Develop and manage budgets, forecasts, and profit plans in a rapidly evolving manufacturing environment. Implement Lean manufacturing principles to reduce labor hours and manufacturing costs. Establish cost-effective systems for controlling capital and operating expenditures, manpower, wages, and salaries. Ensure the safety of all manufacturing processes and compliance with company policies. Drive quality improvements that enhance customer satisfaction and product reliability. Oversee capital asset maintenance and manage plant facility upgrades or equipment replacements as needed. Control and minimize labor overtime and repair expenses. Promote 5S and shop floor organization with the support of plant personnel. Provide leadership, coaching, and training to achieve company goals and foster a high-performance culture. Participate in the recruitment and interview process for production roles as needed. Administer weekly temporary labor time submissions. Apply company policies situationally and appropriately within the workplace.
Essential Skills
Bachelor’s degree in manufacturing management or related field. 8-10 years of progressive supervisory and leadership experience in a manufacturing environment. Demonstrated leadership skills with clear examples of motivating, coaching, influencing, developing supervision and non-exempt team members. Experience using problem-solving techniques such as A3’s, 5 Why’s, 8D’s. Lean manufacturing knowledge. Proficient in plant management. Continuous improvement expertise. Production management skills. Six Sigma proficiency. Safety management skills. Leadership development capabilities. Employee development experience. Sales and engineering knowledge. Quality assurance skills. Process improvement abilities. Assembly operations knowledge. Handling KPIs. Budgeting expertise.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
Lean Six Sigma certification. Experience with manufacturing operations. Problem-solving skills with tools like 5 Whys and 8D’s.
Work Environment
The position is based in a heavy industrial manufacturing facility, requiring a commitment to safety and adherence to manufacturing protocols. The environment is dynamic and fast-paced, with opportunities for continuous improvement and collaboration.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $130000.00 - $150000.00/hr.
