Job Summary:
Mercury Systems is seeking a Principal Product Development Manager to lead the development of memory and memory-related microelectronics within our Data Management and Microelectronics (DM&M) business. This role involves driving the development and delivery of advanced memory and memory related microelectronics products that serve aerospace, defense, and space markets. The ideal candidate will oversee the entire product lifecycle management from market analysis through new product introduction, collaborating across internal teams and external customers to ensure alignment with strategic objectives. Act as a technical expert in the memory domain, you will shape product roadmaps, manage IRAD investments, and deliver solutions that meet rigorous reliability and security standards.
Job Responsibilities:
Manage the full product lifecycle from strategic planning to tactical execution
Conduct market research and gather customer feedback to inform product enhancements
Lead ideation and continuous exploration for new memory products
Prioritize and manage IRAD investments, business plans, and funding requests
Develop and maintain product roadmaps, requirements, pricing, and Designed-to-Cost objectives
Oversee IRAD and Sustaining Engineering project reviews and codes
Analyze competitive landscape and identify strategic partnerships
Create and execute Go-to-Market plans and manage Product Change Notifications (PCNs)
Lead End-of-Life (EOL) planning and execution for memory products
Provide portfolio analysis and reporting to senior management
Stay current on market trends and identify innovative solutions
Facilitate effective communication with customers and cross-functional teams
Required Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in engineering, business, or related field
Typically requires a minimum of 6 -10 years of direct product management experience with 5 years in new product introduction (NPI) and development in manufacturing environments
Strong background in aerospace/defense markets, memory/storage/processing technologies, or microelectronic packaging
Experience with DoD, prime contractors, and Tier 3+ customers
Proven ability to analyze complex data and make informed decisions
Strong leadership skills within matrix organizations and excellent communication abilities
Ability to interact with multi-disciplined professionals to understand and make necessary tradeoffs and decisions
Expert level of experience with MS-Word, MS-Excel and MS-PowerPoint
Experience mentoring and building external relationships
Ability to travel up to 25% domestically and internationally
Eligible for or holds an active DoD Secret Clearance
Preferred Qualifications
Master’s Degree (MBA or MS Management, MS Logistics or Supply Chain)
8-10+ years of program/product management in aerospace and defense (Tier 1 or Tier 2 supplier)
Knowledge of FARS and DFARS
Successful track record in defense product launches and bid wins
Understanding of electronics design, manufacturing operations, and product lifecycle management
Active Secret clearance
