Overview

Highly responsible supervisory administrative and technical work directing and coordinating the work of electricians and maintenance personnel engaged in the construction, installation, maintenance, repair and servicing of high-, medium- and low-voltage electrical, communications and electronics systems, including panel boards, communication systems, interior and exterior lighting systems, airport runway lighting systems, electrical circuits, generators, electrical pumps and motors, and related systems, devices and equipment. May be called upon to participate in the performance of electrical work. Troubleshoots electrical problems; reviews and updates complex electrical plans, confers with contractors, consultants, local, state and federal government agencies regarding proposed and existing electrical construction work for electrical code compliance. Monitors all aspects of project activities until completed, documents problems, recommends solutions, prepares maintenance schedules and associated job plans, produces purchase requisitions for materials used, prepares reports which include status of projects etc. Responds to all electrical emergency situations and performs additional duties as assigned or required; and related work as required. This position is considered essential. Employees in this assignment must report to work for natural disasters or other declared emergency situations. Responsibilities

Review and update complex electrical plans and confer with contractors, consultants, and government agencies regarding electrical code compliance. Monitor all project activities until completion; document problems, recommend solutions, and prepare maintenance schedules and job plans. Produce purchase requisitions for materials; prepare reports on project status. Respond to electrical emergency situations and perform additional duties as assigned. Qualifications

A valid driver's license. Applicants must be eligible for coverage under the airport's auto liability insurance policy. An associate's degree from an accredited college or university. A valid Class A Master Electrical License or a Louisiana State Electrical License. Out-of-area licenses are acceptable. If hired, must show proof of an active Class A Master Electrical License with the City of New Orleans or a Louisiana State Electrical License within 120 days of hire. Failure to do so may result in termination. Eight (8) years of full-time paid experience as a licensed electrician with at least five (5) years at an airport facility, or eight (8) years of relevant experience in electrical maintenance engineering, design, commissioning, maintenance, or manufacturing, with at least five (5) years in large and complex environments such as hospitals, municipalities, post-secondary campuses, or industrial plants, and include journeyman level electrical work, and at least three (3) years of lead level or supervisory experience managing teams. If hired, maintain all required licenses, permits, certificates, and auto liability insurance eligibility during employment. Failure to comply may result in termination. Prior to appointment, the hiring agency will verify education and licenses; original documents must be provided before start date. Candidate must pass a personal, criminal, and employment background check as required by federal regulations; criminal history will not automatically disqualify a candidate.
