Overview

Regions Hospital Microbiology Laboratory is currently seeking a self-motivated, quality-focused Medical Lab Scientist to join our team. As a Medical Lab Scientist at Regions Hospital, you will join an innovative and collaborative group of professionals in our newly remodeled laboratory designed for ergonomics and workflow. Our team has been engaged in developing our new laboratory information system designed to provide efficiency and patient safety. Your work will support Regions Hospital as well as six other suburban hospitals and over twenty clinics in our network. This position is in our Regions Hospital microbiology lab. Our lab supports microbiology testing for the HealthPartners System. Responsibilities

Perform specimen receiving, culture setup, and culture reading for various specimen sources. Perform susceptibility and molecular testing and share responsibility for quality assurance for the department. Set up and process specimens for cultures and molecular testing, read cultures, use Maldi, BD Kiestra Automation Line, BD Phoenix, and manual susceptibility testing. Support Regions Hospital and HealthPartners System laboratories. Schedule

Work schedule: FTE: .8 (32 hrs. weekly), Evening Shift. Required Qualifications

Education: Bachelor’s degree in medical technology, biology, or other science related field. Advanced Degree or training (Masters in Sciences or Clinical Specialty) may substitute for preferred certification. Preferred Qualifications

Successful completion of a Clinical rotation in an approved program that qualifies for ASCP certification or equivalent. Medical Technologist (MT) or Medical Laboratory Scientist (MLS) Certification with ASCP or equivalent agency or eligible preferred. Benefits
