Overview
The Mammography Tech 2 arranges patients for Mammography examinations and produces Mammography images to aid in diagnosis. They help prevent patient exposure to unnecessary radiation, ensure safety by following pre-established imaging protocols, and screen all patients. They operate equipment according to departmental policy and provide complete pre- and post-education to patients and families. They may evaluate the competency level of others and report to a Supervisor or Manager. Responsibilities
Patient Care: accurately identify patients and files to ensure high accuracy of studies; track patients according to department procedures and identify/correct errors (RIS reports); communicate with patients to obtain clinical history and informed consent; clearly explain procedures to ease anxiety and obtain cooperation; recognize and address clinical or emergent problems to achieve optimal outcomes; report and correct adverse or unsafe conditions; act as a backup for other technologists as needed. Radiation Safety: use radiation protection and shielding effectively; maintain exposure readings within ALARA limits; adjust technical factors and algorithms to control patient dose per ACR guidelines. Equipment Maintenance: maintain a clean, well-stocked environment; operate Imaging equipment per manufacturer specifications and perform daily calibrations; troubleshoot and report equipment problems promptly; participate in MQSA inspections and QC of equipment. Other duties: act as backup for department staff; complete additional duties within required time frames; stay current with ACR standards and consistently meet organizational service standards. 2 years of experience Graduate of an accredited Radiologic Technologist Program American Registry of Radiologic Technologists, ARRT (R)(M) Louisiana State License Basic Life Support (BLS) Healthcare Provider About Us
