The Opportunity

Develop and optimize heat treatment processes (annealing, quenching, tempering, carburizing, nitriding, induction hardening, vacuum brazing, etc.) for various metals and alloys. Select and specify heat treat parameters (temperatures, soak times, quench media, furnace atmosphere) to achieve desired material properties Prepare and load parts for Vacuum Brazing, Heat Treating, and surface treatments. Perform quality checks throughout the process related to part dimensions, cleanliness, part fit-up, and braze quality. Perform routine maintenance on various equipment within the department. Conduct pyrometry checks, System Accuracy Tests (SAT), Temperature Uniformity Surveys (TUS), and instrument calibrations. Identify process trends and non-conformances during day-to-day activities. Prepare and process metallurgical samples obtained from the brazing process. Assist in achieving and maintaining certification and qualification of equipment and processes. Aid in establishing and maintaining documented procedures. Mask parts for chemical processing such as anodizing. Ensure attention to detail and quality while meeting production schedules. Practice and promote safety and good housekeeping. Participate in inspections, audits, and resolution of non-conformities. Collaborate with team members to maintain a positive working environment. Perform hardness testing and complete other tasks as required. Your Skills and Experience:

Metallurgical Knowledge - Strong understanding of ferrous and non-ferrous alloys, phase transformations, and the relationship between microstructure and mechanical properties. Process Engineering Expertise - Skilled in designing and controlling thermal cycles, quench systems, and furnace operations to achieve precise material properties. Good manual dexterity and familiarity with general workshop tools. Ability to read and interpret technical drawings. Good computer skills, including proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and email. Strong written and verbal communication skills. Experience with Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) software. Previous experience working with Aerospace & Defense customers. Familiarity with the following standards and certifications is beneficial: AS9100 – Quality management certification AWS C3.7M/C3.7:2011 – Specification for aluminum brazing AMS 2750 – Pyrometry AMS 2769 – Heat treatment of parts in vacuum AWS 2770 – Heat treatment of wrought aluminum alloy parts NADCAP – Accreditation for special processes Benefits
