Production Manager – Night Shift The Production Manager – Night Shift oversees all night-shift manufacturing operations to ensure safety, quality, delivery, and cost goals are met. This role manages five supervisors and roughly 200 employees, facilitating collaboration across departments and promoting continuous improvement.
Responsibilities
Ensure that safety is continually monitored and is treated as the number one priority of all factory personnel, and that safety guidelines and action items are completed
Oversee day-to-day production operations, establishing priorities and optimizing resources to ensure the daily fulfillment of sections to meet the production plan
Review production and operating reports and resolve operational, manufacturing, and maintenance problems to ensure minimum costs and prevent operational delays
Involved in identifying and recommending investment projects for machinery, tools, and equipment
Responsible for issues regarding quality, safety, health, and environment for Production employees. Ensures that all safety and security procedures are followed. Supports the factory goals and continuously improves the QSE efforts
Continuous follow-up and fulfilment of targets for production performance (KPIs). Compiles, stores, and retrieves production data and reports results on the departmental KPI board
Responsible for budget for own department; works within approved budget and develops and implements cost‑saving measures
Provides regular performance feedback to subordinates. Develops subordinates' skills and encourages growth. Continuous focus on the reduction of direct labor per equivalent unit produced
Ensures that employees' competencies are sufficient and up to date for future demands
Follows policies and procedures; supports the organization's goals and values
Ensures that Cost of Quality (COQ) goals are met and that quality metrics are optimized for continuous improvement of the quality systems
Meets all compliance for local, state, and federal EPA and OSHA regulations
Manages inventory, minimizing shortage for floor stock inventories
All other duties as assigned
Ability to create 3‑5 year strategies that define growth, innovation, and capability improvement
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in business, Engineering, or related field or equivalent experience
6+ years of progressive leadership experience, including 3+ years managing large production teams (200+ employees preferred)
Extensive background in manufacturing or industrial operations — experience in wind, automotive, aerospace, or heavy equipment is a plus
Demonstrated knowledge of Lean manufacturing, 5S, and root cause analysis
Skilled in budget management, resource planning, and KPI tracking
Proficient in communication, coaching, and team development abilities
Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite and SAP or other production systems
Competencies
Effective leadership and communication skills with the ability to motivate and guide large teams
Engaged approach with solid decision‑making and problem‑solving abilities
Proficient in Microsoft Office and SAP or similar manufacturing systems
Demonstrated commitment to safety, quality, and continuous improvement
Experienced in facilitating cross‑departmental collaboration and performing well under varying conditions
Dependable, organized, and focused on achieving results
