WSP is initiating a search for an enthusiastic and motivated Transportation Engineer to join the Transportation Team. This position will sit in the

Atlanta, GA

office.

This opportunity provides the chance to work on GDOT projects and a variety of highway and transportation design tasks, with the potential to enhance design and production skills and build relationships within WSP and with clients around the state.

Responsibilities

Assist with project tasks for conceptual and preliminary engineering and final design activities, as well as development of construction plans, calculations and specifications.

Coordinate with other design disciplines such as structures, hydraulics, traffic, environmental, and utilities.

Participate hands-on in the preparation of Plans, Specifications and Estimates (PS&E).

Assist with the development of layouts, sketches, plans, specifications and estimates standards and guidelines, correspondence, and/or prepare reports.

Develop engineering skills including horizontal and vertical geometry design, 3D corridor modeling, drainage and erosion control design, and cost estimating.

Exercise responsible and ethical decision-making regarding company funds, resources and conduct and adhere to WSP's Code of Conduct and related policies and procedures.

Perform additional responsibilities as required by business needs.

Qualifications Required Qualifications:

Bachelor of Science degree in Civil Engineering.

1 to 3 years of experience in transportation and infrastructure projects.

Experience with design teams on GDOT and municipal projects (highway, roadway geometric design, roadway plan production, and drainage design).

Knowledge of civil engineering principles, practices, process, design/build, and the application to permitting and project work-related issues.

Strong interpersonal and communication skills when interacting with others, and the ability to express ideas effectively and professionally to engineering and non-engineering audiences.

Effective self-leadership with attention to detail, results orientation, and managing multiple priorities in a dynamic work environment.

Ability to learn new techniques, perform multiple tasks simultaneously, follow instructions, work independently, and comply with company policies.

Moderate proficiency with technical writing, office software, math principles, spreadsheets, and tools.

Experience with discipline-specific design software (e.g., MicroStation, InRoads, OpenRoads).

Critical thinking and problem-solving skills to apply technical knowledge to data analysis and design decisions.

Proven track record of upholding workplace safety and ability to abide by WSP's health, safety and harassment policies.

Preferred Qualifications:

Fundamentals in Engineering Certification (EI/EIT).
