Molecular Pathology and Clinical Cytogenetics - Faculty Open Rank. The Department of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine at the Medical College of Wisconsin invites applications for a faculty position in Molecular Pathology and Clinical Cytogenetics, at a rank commensurate with experience. Principal Duties and Responsibilities

Interpret and report clinical molecular genetic test results for oncology and inherited diseases. Interpret and report clinical cytogenetic test results (chromosome analysis and fluorescence in situ hybridization) for oncology and inherited diseases. Enhance laboratory procedures and systems to ensure high quality, accurate clinical test results. Assist in troubleshooting technical laboratory procedures and provide technical support to laboratory staff; oversee the laboratory Quality Management plan and ensure compliance. Consult with physicians, genetic counselors, and other clinical staff regarding test specifications; discuss interpretation of patient results. Ensure continuous compliance with regulatory agencies (CAP, CLIA); lead internal and external inspections. Provide scientific and clinical assessment of emerging technologies; stay current with literature to improve tests and develop new offerings; approve test method selection and validation plans. Ensure SOPs meet regulatory requirements; perform annual review and approval of all laboratory SOPs. Engage in scientific presentations at national meetings, contribute to peer-reviewed publications, and participate in professional organizations. Participate in the education of pathology trainees and medical students; facilitate integration of laboratory genetics and genomics into residency and fellowship training. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

Positive leadership style with a history of building and motivating a team. Expertise in molecular genetics and cytogenetics laboratory procedures. Knowledge of high-throughput genotyping platforms and automated sequencing. Excellent interpersonal, organizational, and analytical skills; strong written and verbal communication. Thorough understanding of regulatory requirements for CLIA/CAP clinical laboratories. Team player; able to collaborate with laboratory directors and stakeholders; comfortable engaging with management at multiple levels. Ability to work with industry thought-leaders and the broader scientific community. Commitment to ethical conduct, transparency, and stewardship of resources. Education: MD/PhD or MD Certifications/Licenses: Board certified or board eligible in Anatomic and/or Clinical Pathology by the American Board of Pathology; Board certified or board eligible in Molecular Genetic Pathology; eligible for an unrestricted Wisconsin Medical License; experience in both cytogenetic tests and various molecular approaches is preferred. Experience: 3–5 years of experience in a CLIA/CAP clinical molecular genetics laboratory and cancer cytogenetics laboratory is preferred; all levels considered.
