Molecular Pathology and Clinical Cytogenetics - Faculty Open Rank. The Department of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine at the Medical College of Wisconsin invites applications for a faculty position in Molecular Pathology and Clinical Cytogenetics, at a rank commensurate with experience. Principal Duties and Responsibilities
Interpret and report clinical molecular genetic test results for oncology and inherited diseases. Interpret and report clinical cytogenetic test results (chromosome analysis and fluorescence in situ hybridization) for oncology and inherited diseases. Enhance laboratory procedures and systems to ensure high quality, accurate clinical test results. Assist in troubleshooting technical laboratory procedures and provide technical support to laboratory staff; oversee the laboratory Quality Management plan and ensure compliance. Consult with physicians, genetic counselors, and other clinical staff regarding test specifications; discuss interpretation of patient results. Ensure continuous compliance with regulatory agencies (CAP, CLIA); lead internal and external inspections. Provide scientific and clinical assessment of emerging technologies; stay current with literature to improve tests and develop new offerings; approve test method selection and validation plans. Ensure SOPs meet regulatory requirements; perform annual review and approval of all laboratory SOPs. Engage in scientific presentations at national meetings, contribute to peer-reviewed publications, and participate in professional organizations. Participate in the education of pathology trainees and medical students; facilitate integration of laboratory genetics and genomics into residency and fellowship training. Positive leadership style with a history of building and motivating a team. Expertise in molecular genetics and cytogenetics laboratory procedures. Knowledge of high-throughput genotyping platforms and automated sequencing. Excellent interpersonal, organizational, and analytical skills; strong written and verbal communication. Thorough understanding of regulatory requirements for CLIA/CAP clinical laboratories.
