Notifies appropriate leadership in the event of equipment malfunction, boiler casualty, or any other unforeseen event that negatively impact the operation of the boiler plant or the hospital steam system. Operates engines, boilers, and auxiliary equipment. Reads gauges, meters, and charts to track boiler operations. Monitors boiler water, chemical, and fuel levels. Activates valve to change the amount of water, air, and fuel in the boilers. Performs routine maintenance to include lubricating moving parts, replace filters, and removes soot and corrosion. Tests and chemically treats hydronic systems to prevent corrosion and harmful deposits. Handles replacement of defective valves, gaskets, or bearings or performs a complete overhaul of defected parts when needed. Ensures equipment operates safely and within established limits but performing regular restarts of equipment while monitoring meters, gauges, and computerized controls. Must adhere to city ordinance requirements for high pressure steam boilers. Keeps detailed records of relevant events and facts concerning operations and maintenance in an equipment log. Records steam pressure, temperature, water level, power output, and fuel consumption. Minimum Requirements

Education : High School Diploma or GED Licenses & Certifications : STL Stationary Engineer Experience and Preferred Qualifications
