Job Summary M1 Support Services is seeking an Aircraft Mechanic I - Structures to primarily perform all scheduled and unscheduled aircraft and equipment maintenance, both on and off equipment, on assigned aircraft and equipment in accordance with the Performance Work Statement (PWS), M1 policy, DAFI 21-101 (and supplements), as well as industry standards.
Responsibilities
Conducts daily Sheet Metal / Structures operations. Repairs, replaces and rebuilds equipment, aircraft structures, and functional components (e.g., control surfaces, hydraulic lines, and airframe accessories), using hand tools, power tools, machines, and equipment.
Inspects, evaluates, and repairs aircraft assemblies and sub-assemblies for cracks, corrosion, distortion, security, warping, wear, and other damage.
Collaborates with engineering teams to support T-2 modifications on assigned aircraft. Perform both on and off equipment T2-modifications and de-modifications utilizing engineering drawings, blueprints or customer-provided technical guidance.
Conducts daily aircraft painting operations on legacy aircraft and support equipment. Repairs, modifies, fabricates and applies corrosion protective coatings and markings to aircraft structures, equipment, advanced composites, and bonded structural parts.
Assesses damage to aircraft coatings. Checks repairs for serviceability according to specifications and technical publications. Identifies, removes, and treats corrosion using mechanical and chemical procedures.
Reads and interprets manufacturers and aircraft maintenance manuals, service bulletins, technical data, engineering data and other specifications to determine feasibility and method of repairing or replacing malfunctioning or damaged components. Performs periodic, hourly or calendar inspections, as required.
Reviews and completes forms documentation pertinent to aircraft or equipment maintenance. Enters maintenance actions into applicable MIS system and makes entries in forms, logs, records or electronic equipment, as required.
Monitors and leads teams to perform more complex aircraft inspections and repairs.
Receives technical guidance from Managers, Supervisors, Leads or higher-level technicians; aids in writing/initiating engineering technical assistance requests.
Obtains and maintains special certifications as directed by management.
Performs scheduled and unscheduled aircraft and equipment maintenance, both on and off equipment, on assigned aircraft and equipment in accordance with the work statement, Company Policy, AFI 21-101 and industry standards.
Performs maintenance on other assigned MDS aircraft in a highly cross-utilization/trained environment and may work in areas such as repair and reclamation, egress, electro/environmental, APG, wheel & tire, structures, composite repair, propulsion, fuels, non-powered AGE, armament, munitions, NDI, and pneudraulics.
Performs transient aircraft support, CDDAR team member or chief duties, Phase inspection dock team member or chief duties, Engine run certifier duties, QA augmentation, Hydrazine response and Wheel & Tire functions.
Completes all assignments and tasks as directed by Managers, Supervisors, Expediters, Leads and more senior technicians.
May be trained on bomb lift use to load aircraft with various system pods, pylons or munitions.
Performs weed removal and general clean-up of facilities in accordance with the PWS; may include sweeping, mopping, and use of floor cleaning equipment.
Travel to receive training to assist other personnel and work centers as directed.
Performs vehicle use inspections, cleaning and wash duties.
Qualifications and Experience
High School diploma or GED is required.
Minimum of four years' experience performing as a USAF fighter Sheet Metal / Structures technician with a minimum of 3 years' experience on one or more of the following: A-10, F-15, or F-16.
Must speak, read, write, and understand English.
Must be able to work day shift, night shift or weekend duty and travel as part of a maintenance recovery team as required.
Professional demeanor with customers and company employees; reliable, self-motivated, and able to handle stressful situations and timelines while maintaining a professional attitude.
Working knowledge of aircraft systems, maintenance directives, data reporting, and using technical data.
Knowledge of Air Force supply and efficiency reporting procedures.
Knowledge of handling, use, and disposal of hazardous waste and materials.
Must be able to obtain/maintain the security clearance level as mandated by the government customer.
Must possess a current valid U.S. Driver's License; may be required to obtain/maintain a government driver’s license. Color vision test may be required if CMA access is needed.
Must be able to move about inside hangars and outside on ramps near running equipment and aircraft.
Working knowledge of computers and software such as Word, Outlook, PowerPoint, and Excel.
May be required to obtain/maintain aircraft and/or equipment Red X/IPI/ER certification, as required.
Position requires complying with unique commuting/travel requirements.
Working Conditions
Environment ranges from office to hangar and flight line; extensive sitting, climbing, standing, stooping, bending, pushing, kneeling, stretching and walking.
Must be physically capable of performing all assigned duties; minimum lifting up to 35 pounds.
May be required to meet OSHA, DCMA or additional industrial requirements including hearing tests, vision tests (color vision), respirator fit test and blood draw to ensure safety standards.
May be subjected to no-notice drug testing per Company policy or Customer's direction.
