Overview Epstein is seeking a

Mechanical Project Engineer

to join our growing MEP engineering team. The Project Engineer is responsible for the planning, control, and integration of engineering activities and the development of project deliverables to ensure the success of their project. A fully competent engineer in all conventional aspects of the discipline, the Project Engineer oversees the engineering design process, as well as the coordination of changes to the design and specifications of a project. The Project Engineer works closely with engineers and/or designers and delegates design responsibility and drawing production to them. The individual designs HVAC systems for industrial, institutional, educational, hospitality, governmental, residential, retail and commercial facilities. Strong industrial project experience is a plus. We are looking for the right person to mentor our well-qualified staff, interact with clients, and work with the rest of the team at Epstein.

General Responsibilities

Gain a full understanding of the project objective, scope, deliverables, budget implications, and other factors that impact design activities.

Have experience in the design/bid/build and design/build engineering design and construction modes of project delivery.

Establish design criteria for specific projects including system selections and engineering energy analysis.

Take responsible lead in the supervision of staff that executes calculations, design, equipment coordination, and detailing of engineered systems.

Manage the development of construction/equipment installation documents and project deliverables.

Perform and review analysis and design calculations and designates design and drawing activities to other project members.

Review and evaluate computer program and manual calculations for technical accuracy and compliance with established design criteria.

Coordinate with the project team and all design disciplines during the project.

Perform field surveys and prepare associated reports.

Assist in preparing estimates of probable costs at various stages of design.

Participate in preparation of project specifications.

Perform periodic design reviews; ensure designs follow specifications, codes and regulations, and contract requirements and maintain technical and quality standards.

Review and supervise the review of shop drawings for compliance with contract requirements and documents.

Requirements

Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering or Architectural Engineering with emphasis in Mechanical Engineering.

Registered Professional Engineer required.

Ability to work in a fast-paced environment that requires a great deal of adaptability and an open minded approach to accomplishing the company’s end goals.

7-10 years of successful project experience within a consulting engineering firm.

Full understanding of HVAC system design including refrigeration, air and water distribution systems, and coordination of the design of these systems.

Working knowledge of REVIT and discipline specific software packages such as Trane/Trace.

Knowledge of process piping, fire protection, and plumbing systems.

Knowledge of Mechanical Systems Codes and Standards.

Strong interpersonal and communication skills.

Proficiency with Word, Excel, and Outlook.

Compensation The salary range for this position is $100,000 - $130,000 annually. Employees are also eligible for discretionary annual bonuses based on both company and individual performance.
