Overview
An international energy technology company designing and commercialising integrated lithium-ion Battery Energy Storage Systems and software for commercial, industrial and small-utility renewable energy markets. Reporting to the CTO, the Senior Electrical Engineer will lead electrical design, development, testing and commercialisation of utility PV and BESS solutions. This hands-on senior technical role requires deep expertise in battery technologies, power conversion, switchboard design, standards sign-offs and FAT/SAT testing to ensure safe, compliant and manufacturable systems for market rollout. Responsibilities
Lead electrical system design for battery storage projects: architecture, schematics and power distribution layouts. Perform electrical analysis, simulation and modelling to optimise performance, efficiency and reliability. Select and integrate battery and power electronics components based on technical and commercial requirements. Conduct electrical design reviews and mentor junior engineers. Plan and execute factory acceptance tests (FATs) and site acceptance tests (SATs); troubleshoot on-site and in-factory issues. Prepare and review technical documentation: specifications, design reports, test procedures and installation guidelines. Work with utilities, regulators and external stakeholders to obtain approvals, certifications and sign-offs. Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or related field (Master’s a plus). Professional Engineer (P.E.) licence preferred. 5+ years’ electrical engineering experience (with specialisation in battery storage systems and utility PV / BESS project electrical design and site testing preferred). Proven hands-on experience with switchboard design, electrical distribution, protection schemes and standards sign-offs. Experience planning and executing FATs and SATs. Familiarity with relevant standards and regulations (IEEE, NEC, UL, IEC and utility interconnection requirements). Strong knowledge of power conversion systems (inverters, DC/DC converters) and eBOP components. Proficiency in electrical design software (AutoCAD, ETAP or similar) and electrical simulation tools. Compensation and Benefits
