Position Overview The Operations Engineer serves as a strategic leader in managing and enhancing quarry operations. This position oversees all aspects of mine planning, production, and quality control to ensure efficient, sustainable, and safe operations with Mulzer Company.

Key Responsibilities (Essential Duties and Functions)

Develop and execute comprehensive production plans (short, medium, and long‑term) to optimize operations and support production goals

Participate in development and execution of Capital Improvement projects including resource management, project planning, financial planning and reporting

Schedule and manage production activities such as Drilling and Blasting, Material Haulage and Plant operations

Utilize software for projects including mine planning, production planning, process improvements and capital investments

Promote the integration of technology and innovative engineering practices to improve cost efficiency, safety, and environmental sustainability

Monitor and analyze daily production reports, collaborating with quality control teams to address and resolve stone quality issues

Oversee daily production operations, ensuring resources are available to meet production schedules without delays

Plans and coordinates activities of personnel

Direct and train employees on new tasks and operational procedures, fostering a culture of safety and professional development

Supervise contractors to ensure adherence to safety and performance standards

Assist with MSHA inspections

Strict adherence to safety requirements and procedures as outlined in the Manual of Safety Practices and Procedures

Ability to perform under pressure to complete tasks accurately and on time

Highly developed oral, verbal, and written communication skills and an ability to work with management and peers

Capability to present plans to wide array of audience

Display a professional and courteous attitude to co‑workers, supervisors, and the general public at all times

Willingness to work in a team environment and assist co‑workers or supervisors with other duties as required

Ability to be a self‑starter

Ability to perform and prioritize short‑ and long‑term expectations with minimal direction/oversight as needed

Mentor less experienced members of the team

Timely and regular attendance is an expectation of performance for all employees; employees will be held accountable for adhering to their workplace schedule

Must be willing to travel and work away from home regularly

Must be willing to work nights and weekends when necessary

Qualifications To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.

Education and Experience Bachelor's or associate degree in engineering, manufacturing or equivalent preferred; or two to four years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Proficient with MS Office product suite and experience with CAD preferred.

Language Skills Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively to customers or employees of organization.

Mathematical Skills Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.

Reasoning Ability Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.

The employee must regularly lift and/or move more than 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include distance vision, peripheral vision, and depth perception.

Work Environment While performing the duties of this job, the employee regularly works near moving mechanical parts and in outside weather conditions and is regularly exposed to wet, humid condition airborne particles, and extreme heat or cold. The employee is occasionally exposed to vibration. The noise level in the work environment is usually loud and may require protective equipment.
