GIS Analyst Location:
Raleigh, NC USA Position Description The GIS Analyst will have one of the following combinations of education and experience: Completion of a minimum of 60 semester hours in a Geography or GIS program at an accredited college or university plus at least 7 years of applicable work experience Associate’s Degree from an accredited college or university, plus completion of a GIS certification program recognized by Duke Energy at an accredited college or university plus at least 7 years of applicable work experience Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited college or university, plus completion of a GIS certification program recognized by Duke Energy at an accredited college or university plus at least 5 years of applicable work experience Master’s Degree from an accredited college or university, plus completion of a GIS certification program recognized by Duke Energy at an accredited college or university plus at least 3 years of applicable work experience Candidates will have experience and proficiency in the following: Esri Products Suite (ArcGIS Pro, ArcGIS Desktop, ArcGIS Online) Google Earth and MS Office Suite Cartography Research and developing solutions Basic database structure knowledge Technical Writing Presentation Skills - both verbal and material Project and time management Ideal candidates will have experience and knowledge with the following: GIS compatible scripting (Python, VBScript, Arcade) Region specific permitting knowledge Storm Water Pollution and Prevention Plan (SWPPP), State and Federal Permitting Mapping experience Linear utility experience Remote Sensing Spatial Analysis Experience AutoCAD, and interoperability with CAD drawings in Esri programs Quick Capture, Survey 123 ArcGIS Portal Utility infrastructure siting and routing Maintenance and operation of tablets ArcGIS Field Maps Duties may include but are not limited to the following: Create professional maps and figures of various transmission assets and upgrades in various disciplines including environmental permitting (SWPPP), local permitting, public engagement (interactive maps), and siting studies (figures for presentation and documentation) Create online maps for field data collection and assist in tablet setup Create mailing lists and parcel maps for customer notifications Write technical descriptions and create figures for various deliverables Interactive map creation to assist SME’s for public questioning Convert data between .dwg, .shp, and .kmz file types Download, maintain, and optimize large data libraries from a variety of online sources Create kmz’s and web maps of data to share across departments Create studies and/or plans utilizing a variety of data ArcGIS model development for automated data clipping and analysis ArcGIS Online and Portal data stewardships and archiving ArcGIS/Portal admin tasks, like adding users to groups, changing data ownership, etc. Create living map documents for tracking and providing up to date documents Standardizing enterprise-wide symbology standards and mapping templates Standardizing consultant deliverable schemas Integration of delivered access and data into databases for consumption Automated access and matting estimate models for improved cost estimates Establish enterprise level reference data library, and establish protocol/stewardship standards Creation of ArcGIS Online/Portal interactive maps for project level websites Create interactive maps for reference Standardizing enterprise-wide public communication styles sheets for print and web This position is hybrid with 3 days on-site and 2 days remote per week. 3-year commitment.
