Automated Process Equipment Engineer

Our client, a Global Chemical Company, is seeking an automated process equipment support engineer to join their chemical mechanical planarization (CMP) team. This role will provide hands‑on technical support for automated process equipment, ensuring optimal performance, reliability, and safety. The ideal candidate will have experience in supporting, troubleshooting, and improving automated and robotic equipment in a discrete manufacturing environment.
Key Responsibilities
Part of Newark site Automation and Process Control (A&PC) team responsible for support of manufacturing plant operations
Provide day‑to‑day technical support for automated process equipment at the Newark site. Resolve issues related to robotics, vision systems, barcoding, and scanning equipment.
Assist in the execution of capital projects, including design reviews, commissioning, and acceptance testing.
Participate in Machine Risk Assessments (MRAs) and ensure compliance with machine safety standards.
Work with external vendors to support equipment upgrades, repairs, and qualifications.
Required Skills & Experience
3 to 5 years of experience in a discrete manufacturing environment with a focus on automated and robotic equipment.
Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree in Mechanical, Electrical, or Mechatronics Engineering with coursework in robotics, machine vision, and automated inspection.
Experience with robotics platforms (e.g., KUKA, ABB or Epson) and integration with vision systems.
Experience with vision system programming preferred (LabVIEW, Cognex, Keyence).
Familiarity with Machine Risk Assessments and Performance Level calculations.
Proficiency in CAD/CAM software – SolidWorks preferred
Ability to read and understand electrical schematics
Experience with mechanical and/or electrical fabrication.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
Highly motivated and effective problem solver.
Compensation $100,000 - $120,000/year
Exact compensation may vary based on several factors, including skills, experience, and education.
