St. Joseph’s Progressive Care Unit is an intermediate level of care between general hospital floors and an intensive care unit (ICU), providing a

step-down

unit for patients transitioning from critical care.

PCU patient’s conditions require more frequent monitoring than general units but aren't unstable enough for ICU care.

Responsibilities

Caring for patients admitted to our heart and vascular unit

Collaborating with cardiologists, EKG techs, echo techs, and others

Monitoring and interpretation of patient vital signs and cardiac rhythms and communicate any changes indicating a more serious condition

You’ll be a trusted educator and resource for your patients’ recovery and prevention of reoccurring issues thanks to the care plans you develop and implement

Qualifications

Associate Degree in Nursing

Minimum 1 year RN work in PCU, IMCU, and/or Telemetry

RN license in good standing with the Texas Board of Nursing

American Heart Association BLS, ACLS within 6 months
