Current RN license in state of assignment One to three (1-3) years training experience preferred Ability to facilitate education in multiple formats (face to face, virtual learning, etc.) Must be at least eighteen (18) years of age Position responsibilities / Essential functions
Initiation and engaging in sexual health conversations with clients and colleagues Obtain sexual history and risk assessment Obtain specimens for STI screening including serology, rapid test, urine, or PCR swab for gonorrhea/chlamydia Perform vital signs and comprehensive physical examinations for STI symptom assessment Administer oral and intramuscular medications for STI treatment per established protocols, or order of an APRN or Medical Director Recognize symptoms of allergic/anaphylaxis and syndromic conditions (neurosyphilis, epididymitis, etc.) Review lab results to assist with determining a treatment strategy to meet identified care needs Assist in evaluating responses to interventions and adjusting care per established protocol Provide client-centered STI information regarding diagnosis, prevention/harm reduction, and education including condom use and other prevention devices Assist with expertise in HIV/STI diagnosis, treatment, prevention, and training modalities according to CDC guidelines Coordinate care/client referrals to higher level of care for assessment of neurosyphilis or penicillin desensitization Consult with physicians and community-based providers as needed Perform nursing procedures or specialized functions within scope of licensure Initial patient work-up including blood pressure checks, weight, height, and other tasks as directed Educate clients on HIV, syphilis, chlamydia, and gonorrhea Support the DIS program with field treatment of syphilis during outreach events with prior approval Manage STI Academy two-day training for OSDH and community nurses, including coordination of presenters, training materials, and completion certificates Teach basic nursing skills and related principles Access testing and treatment records for Rapid Start clients Data entry in PHIDDO on lab results Provide PrEP education to clients on options Provide patient education on vaccines and treatments and potential side effects Navigate prior authorization requests for HIV treatment, PrEP, PEP and HCV treatment Assess, report, and record health status in various settings Develop and implement plan of care parts as needed Administer medications as ordered Report patient information to supervisor or health team Assist with training practicum students as needed Provide presentations and education to providers across the state on HIV, STIs and viral hepatitis Assist prevention team with training, outreach and other needs Public speaking is required; present to large audiences Independently create sexual health presentations based on CDC recommendations Collaborate with Rapid Start Clinicians and as directed by Rapid Start Manager Benefits
