We are the San Fernando Valley’s first designated Pediatric Medical Center, and the only Pediatric Trauma Center. We have the clinical expertise, specialty pediatric staffing, and technologically advanced equipment needed to effectively provide excellent care for all pediatric patients.

Adhere to established hospital and departmental policies, objectives, Quality Assessment and Improvement Program, legal, safety, environmental, infection control standards, Nurse Practices Act, and Patient's Bill of Rights. Apply clinical knowledge and expertise to coordinate patient care, including planning and evaluating patient care regularly. Establish and maintain professional and collaborative relationships with staff, physicians, patients, families, and the public, ensuring confidentiality of all patient information. Demonstrate effective nursing judgment and a working knowledge of the nursing process. Supervise nursing interventions and assist with related tasks, providing guidance to interdisciplinary team members. Lead by establishing priorities and coordinating nursing care. Document and communicate all observed symptoms, reactions, treatments, and changes in patient condition to the healthcare team. Coordinate care plans with other team members to achieve desired outcomes. Communicate the care plan to patients and care partners, involving them in the care process throughout hospitalization. Conduct hourly rounds focusing on pain management, skin integrity, elimination, and other patient needs. Maintain a professional and cooperative manner when interacting with all team members. Understand organizational structure and use appropriate communication channels. Serve as a resource for Electronic Health Record (EHR) systems for staff and medical personnel. Act as a preceptor and role model for new staff and nursing students. Administer medications as directed, assess and document patient responses, and initiate appropriate interventions. Graduate of an accredited RN school of Nursing. Current California Registered Nurse license. At least 1 year of current acute care RN experience in a hospital setting. At least 1 year of current RN experience in PICU. Completion of a two-day pediatric intensive care course, including didactic and clinical rotation, approved by BRN. Complete a minimum of two days of pediatric-specific education every two years, BRN approved. Current AHA BLS, ACLS, and PALS certifications. LA City Fire Care certification required within 90 days of hire. This position is represented by SEIU L121RN and is covered by the applicable collective bargaining agreement. Overview
