The Licensed Vocational Nurse (LVN) is responsible for assisting the Registered Nurse in providing care for a designated group of patients. The LVN utilizes the Nursing Process to deliver therapeutic care under the supervision of a Registered Nurse. Responsibilities include escorting patients, recording vital signs, assisting with clinical procedures, performing EKGs, managing medication administration, scheduling tests and surgeries, and performing administrative duties such as answering calls and managing patient records. The LVN ensures patient safety, privacy, and confidentiality, maintains a safe environment, and complies with infection control policies. Essential Duties
Perform basic assessments and participate in care planning and evaluation. Provide direct patient care, including administering medications and assisting with exams. Communicate professionally with patients and the healthcare team. Schedule diagnostic tests and surgeries as ordered. Prepare patient charts and assist with exam room setup. Handle administrative tasks like phone calls and correspondence. Record patient information accurately in EMR/EHR systems. Perform first aid and CPR as needed. Assist physicians with procedures within scope of license. Organize pharmacy refill requests. Work independently and as part of a team, triaging patients as necessary. Maintain a safe and compliant environment following policies and regulations. Minimum Qualifications
High school diploma or equivalent. Graduation from an accredited Vocational Nursing Program. Ability to work effectively with physicians, staff, and patients. Proficient in Microsoft Word and internet use. Excellent customer service and interpersonal skills. Ability to make decisions with stakeholder input. Preferred Qualifications
Two years of experience in acute or ambulatory care. LVN - Intravenous Therapy Certification (CA DCA). Licenses/Certifications
Valid California LVN license (CA DCA). Basic Life Support (BLS) from American Heart Association. Fire Life Safety Training (LA City), if applicable, to be obtained within 30 days of hire. The hourly rate ranges from $29.00 to $45.20. USC considers various factors when extending employment offers, including experience, education, skills, and market conditions.
