The Colorectal Surgery and Urology Unit consists of 22 semi-private rooms. It cares for patients who have undergone colorectal and urologic surgery. Procedures performed on unit include:
Assist with chest tube insertion, central lines, wound vac changes, NG, Cortrak, catheter, indwelling catheters. Role Summary:
The Registered Professional Nurse assesses, coordinates, plans, directs, implements, and manages the needs of assigned patients throughout their episode of care, focusing on progress toward discharge and transitions within the acute care stay. The nurse ensures that competent, compassionate patient care is provided to patients, referring facilities, and hospital staff in inpatient, ambulatory, and community settings. Essential Duties & Responsibilities: Implement physician orders, administer medications, start IVs, perform treatments, procedures, and tests, and document accordingly. Order, interpret, and evaluate diagnostic tests to assess patient conditions. Assess and evaluate patient needs and responses to care. Apply sound nursing judgment in care management decisions. Administer medications as ordered. Collaborate with the nursing team to create a Plan of Care. Guide ancillary personnel and maintain professional standards. Minimum Qualifications: Graduate of a professional nursing program (Diploma, Associate, or Baccalaureate Degree). Current NYS Registered Nurse license. Certification in BLS/ACLS/PALS/TNCC.
