ASSOCIATE TECHNICIAN - TECHNICIAN - Lubricants Lab Technician
We are the Petroleum Products Research Department in the Fuels and Lubricants Division. We perform laboratory testing on an assortment of fuels and lubricants from different types of vehicles and engines. Overview
Role in the Petroleum Products Research Department focusing on chemical testing, sample preparation, and data handling in a collaborative laboratory environment. Role
Objectives of this Role: Develop an understanding of the chemical testing provided by working with others in a team. Support project leaders and other technical staff. Perform chemical and instrument analyses on fuels, oils, and other petroleum products using standard test methods and Test Inspection Procedures (TIPs). Safely prepare solutions or solvents for tests and transfer samples between laboratory areas. Daily and Monthly Responsibilities: Communicate regularly with coworkers, supervisors, and project leaders regarding tests; work effectively with others in the lab. Follow all written test procedures and instructions (written and verbal). Maintain workbooks and equipment daily, weekly, and monthly per SOPs, TIPs, and other procedures. Troubleshoot test equipment and perform routine computations and manipulation of test data. Meet client scheduled deadlines. Update and maintain control charts. Follow safety requirements and adjust work schedule as needed to meet workload demands. Qualifications
Requirements: High school diploma or equivalent. Related technical certifications or courses preferred but not required. Shift work required. 0-5 years: Related work experience or academic lab experience in a laboratory 0-2 years: Computer skills (e.g., Excel and MS Word) 0-2 years: Experience using analytical balances Valid/clear driver’s license required Special Requirements
