Attend work regularly and follow assigned shift schedule, including potential extended shifts or overtime as required. Participate in developing, writing, and implementing program operations, policies and procedures pertaining to Infection Control; evaluate the effectiveness of the Infection Control program. Review literature and research to stay current on infectious diseases and infection prevention standards; serve as a resource for infection control issues. Ensure Standard Precautions are implemented; assess situations, implement precautions, and modify treatment plans as needed to prevent disease spread. Lead Infection Control Committee activities; coordinate with local and state health departments and ensure adherence to regulations. Provide training and counseling on infection control issues to all staff levels; coordinate outbreak investigations as needed. Coordinate utilization reviews, analyze trends, and advise Campus Leaders on infection control decisions. Perform routine infection control observations across departments and shifts; conduct surveillance rounds and address identified risks. Implement immunization programs in accordance with evidence-based guidelines for individuals and staff. Support disaster response or Continuity of Operations (COOP) activities as assigned; may require alternate shift patterns or locations. Knowledge, Skills And Abilities (KSAs)

Extensive knowledge of nursing techniques, health care laws, medical diagnoses, and infection control standards. Knowledge of infectious diseases and infection prevention practices in healthcare settings. Familiarity with state and federal laws and ICF-IID rules related to State Supported Living Center operations. Ability to work independently with staff at all levels; strong verbal and written communication skills. Skill in computer software and electronic health records; ability to interpret policies and regulations and supervise others as needed. Ability to interact appropriately with individuals with intellectual/developmental disabilities, their families, and staff. Ability to train staff and make decisions, including on-call decisions for SSLC leadership. Knowledge of emergency procedures and equipment; CPR-certified with ability to perform CPR. Registrations, Licensure Requirements Or Certifications

Licensed to practice as a registered nurse in the State of Texas or a state that recognizes reciprocity through the Nurse Licensure Compact. Initial Screening Criteria

At least one (1) year of experience as a practicing registered nurse is required; two (2) years preferred. Bachelor’s Degree is preferred. Two years of nursing supervisory/administrative experience is preferred; infection control experience and experience with individuals with IDD are also preferred. Additional Information

Applicants must pass fingerprint background checks, pre-employment drug screen, and registry checks (CANRS, Nurse Aide, Medication Aide, Employee Misconduct, and HHSC LEIE).
