Role on the Team
Position Summary:
The Cardiovascular RN is responsible for ensuring patient safety during Cardiac Cath Lab / Interventional Radiology / Neuro Interventional Radiology procedures. The RN maintains communication with the physician and charge/manager to sustain workflow throughout the day and stays abreast of changes to department and industry standards, filtering this information to procedural staff. On‑call requirement with a 30‑minute response time.
Department Procedures include but are not limited to:
Coronary angiogram/angioplasty
Peripheral angiogram/angioplasty
Neuro interventional angiogram/angioplasty
Abdominal Aortic Aneurysm (AAA) and Thoracic vessel repair
Neuro Coronary Peripheral Pulmonary Thrombectomy
Central/Port placement and removal
Electrophysiology procedures including Ablation
Cardiac Rhythm Management (CRM) procedures
Transesophageal Echocardiogram (TEE)
Cardioversion
Stress Tests
What It Takes to be Successful
Required Qualifications:
Bachelor of Science in Nursing
Graduate of an accredited RN program
Current California RN license
Current NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) Certification
Current American Heart Association BLS and ACLS
Minimum 1 year acute care experience in a Cardiac Cath Lab or Interventional Radiology
Full command (verbal and written) of the English language
Ability to fulfill the essential functions of the position
Current knowledge and skills appropriate to age/type of patient population served
12 Lead EKG interpretations
Annual update and completion of all teaching assignments for professional enhancement
Demonstrates customer service skills appropriate to the job
Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English
Ability to maintain a work pace appropriate to the workload
Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships across the Health System
Preferred Qualifications:
Intensive Care Unit, Cath Lab/IR, Emergency Department Telemetry experience; ability to identify and interpret ECG rhythms; knowledge of vasoactive medications.
