Overview
Baptist MD Anderson Cancer Center, located in Northeast Florida, is seeking a skilled and compassionate Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant to join the Surgical Oncology team in the Division of Surgery.
Baptist MD Anderson Cancer Center is a premier cancer center that combines the strengths of a preferred regional healthcare provider with the cancer care expertise of MD Anderson. A new 330,000-square-foot facility dedicated solely to oncology care supports interdisciplinary collaboration and enhanced patient experience.
Position Overview We are seeking an Advanced Practice Provider (APP) in the Section of Surgical Oncology. The ideal candidate will have experience or a strong interest in oncology and surgical specialties.
Responsibilities
Patient population: Provide care for patients with malignant and complex conditions of the gastrointestinal tract, skin, soft tissues (including liver, pancreas, gallbladder, stomach), and melanoma/sarcoma.
Inpatient care:
First-assistant in the OR (robot, laparoscopic, open cases).
Rounding on postoperative patients admitted for surgical oncology and colorectal surgery.
Postoperative wound care and pain management.
Timely collaboration with consulting physicians.
Coordinate hospital discharges.
Evaluation of new consults.
Outpatient care: evaluate new and existing patients in collaboration with staff physicians and multidisciplinary teams; complete outpatient documentation in a timely manner; perform clinic procedures as applicable.
Hours: Monday – Friday; shared night and weekend call with inpatient rounding and OR coverage for emergencies.
Qualifications
Education: Master’s Degree (MSN or master’s degree from a physician assistant program).
Licensure: Current Florida licensure as an APRN (APRN) or PA; national certification as a Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant.
Experience: 1–2 years of experience as a first assist or RNFA preferred.
