Develop lesson plans and prepare materials for children’s learning activities. Knowledge of ELDS and CTDOTS. Conduct learning activities with children. Assess, record and report children’s progress and use the results of assessment to plan activities. Maintain a safe, clean and orderly learning environment. Engage parents and promote communication through progress notes, newsletters and parent meetings and conferences. Participate in school meetings and events before, during or afterschool hours as required. Keep supervisor informed of any necessary information regarding the care and safety of children. Bachelor’s Degree in early childhood education, child development – family studies, early childhood special education or elementary education with a concentration in early childhood education Successful teaching experience at the early childhood and/or kindergarten levels Familiarity with the Connecticut Early Learning and Development Standards and National Association for the Education of Young Children (NAEYC) accreditation Knowledge of teaching strategies appropriate to age level Excellent verbal, listening and written communication skills Excellent organizational skills Current First Aid and CPR certification or willingness to obtain Work is primarily in a classroom environment. Preschool classrooms are dynamic with a high level of activity. Incumbent must be able to lift 40 pounds. Other physical demands as specified in job description. GENERAL STATEMENT

The District seeks to hire a Preschool Teacher I for the school-day/school-year preschool classroom at Victoria Soto Preschool. The program is grant-funded. The teacher will plan and implement learning activities that promote the social, physical and intellectual growth of preschool children in cooperation with other program staff, including a Preschool Teacher II. The teacher will work under the direction of the Director of Preschool Programs.
