Role Overview
SCOR has established a new global Facultative Reinsurance team to enhance its market success. This role involves managing SCOR's Facultative Engineering and Construction Reinsurance in the US and Canada, building relationships with cedants and brokers, and collaborating within the global SCOR organization. As a lead Underwriter, you will drive business development, maintain the Facultative offering, and contribute to the profitability and success of the underwriting team. This position requires strong commercial skills to expand SCOR's market share and leadership in Facultative Reinsurance. Creating this book of business, in collaboration with the wider Insurance and Reinsurance teams, is where this role begins. Within this role, you will be responsible for SCORs Facultative Engineering and Construction Reinsurance offering, across the United States and Canada, developing and strengthening relationships with cedants and brokers and collaborating internally with peers and counterparts in the global SCOR organization. As a lead Underwriter for Engineering and Construction, you will drive the strategic engagement for our business development, including business origination and maintenance of the SCOR Facultative offering to cedants and brokers, in the region. You will also help to build the property business as required. Additionally, you will play a key role in the achievement of the Plan, and for the profitability of the Cedant Facultative transactions in the US and Canada, being part of the success of the underwriting team within the region. Your plan contributions form part of the regional and global Cedant Facultative ambition and is achieved through sound technical and profitable underwriting. These goals require experienced commercial skills to develop SCOR's market share and leadership position across Facultative Reinsurance. Strategic Client Engagement
Support the development & delivery of the regional facultative ceding strategy across your line of business through the origination of placements in line with capacity and risk appetite requirements. Team Collaboration
Create strong, collaborative relationships with internal Reinsurance & Insurance leaders to drive the creation of profitable business, and ensuring SCOR is represented in an aligned manner to our clients. Market Negotiation
Negotiate terms, pricing and conditions to secure and provide the best possible facultative reinsurance solutions. Portfolio Optimization
Manage and renew an existing portfolio of facultative deals currently in place, assessing placements against our risk profile, identify exposures and optimize capacity allocation. Analytics Discovery
Collaborate with analytics and risk modelling teams to determine optional facultative reinsurance needs based on exposure and loss scenarios. Client Management
Maintain relationships with cedants and brokers, showcasing our position in the market, and additional value provided through our expertise. Operational Excellence
Adequate deal documentation, including reporting, reserving and claims settlements in conjunction with the relevant departments. Compliance
Ensure facultative placements meeting internal governance, compliance and regulatory requirements, firmly within our Internal Control Systems process and guidelines within the region. New Market Ideation
Stay informed on market developments, pricing shifts, and capacity changes, using this market intelligence to optimize facultative products, timing and portfolio management. Desired Experience
10 years of relevant industry experience in facultative underwriting in the US, preferably with expertise in engineering, construction, and/or property. Comprehensive technical knowledge of subjects associated to facultative underwriting as well as a wider awareness of related actuary, accounting, legal, & regulatory topics. Experience working in matrix organizations and in an international environment. Team player and strong collaborator. Excellent presentation and marketing skills. Desired Education
Engineering, Science, Rik Management or Business degree. Underwriting Designations, including ARe and/or CPCU. Relocation assistance within the U.S. is available for this position. SCOR employees work 3 days per week in an office with the flexibility to work 2 days per week remotely. Pay Range for roles performed in NY:
$296,000-$346,000 base salary per year. Actual salaries may vary based on location, experience, role and performance. The range listed is just one component of SCOR's total compensation package for employees. Other rewards may include annual bonuses, short and long-term incentives. In addition, we provide a variety of benefits to employees, including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, a retirement saving plan, paid holidays and paid time off.
