What you will do ASSUMED - The AVP, Reinsurance will identify opportunities for Relm to gain incremental traction and scale as a credible reinsurance partner. In this role you will: Execute strategic underwriting plans aligned with premium and profitability objectives and service excellence Underwrite and maintain profitable new and renewal business, using independent judgment based on analysis of reinsurance submissions (terms, conditions, coverage) Explore business development opportunities to identify productive use of capacity across treaty and facultative opportunities; fronted and program business, traditional cedants and captives; commutations/novations and loss portfolio transfers; property, casualty and specialty lines; participate in product development initiatives Communicate with Underwriting, Actuarial, Claims, Legal, Accounting on issues around pricing, contract wording, premium and loss bookings and claims to ensure profitability and compliance Provide top quality customer service to brokers and cedants Assist in internal pricing and modeling tool development to establish pricing options on accounts in various structures, lines of business, and currencies, including digital assets Negotiate with brokers and clients, offering constructive feedback and alternative risk solutions when needed Assist in constructing a risk-managed and diversified portfolio of reinsurance business relevant to Relm’s directly written business CEDED The AVP, Reinsurance will contribute to Relm’s ceded strategy across all lines, assist in coordination of the reinsurance submission process for both new and renewal ceded reinsurance treaties and facultative placements. They will also be involved with Relm’s expansion strategies – working with capacity providers in various new jurisdictions to enable Relm to enter new markets. Assist the Head of Reinsurance in optimizing the use of reinsurance and alternative reinsurance in support of the business strategy Oversee implementation and maintenance of reinsurance contracts and programs Facilitate or participate in quantitative contract profitability and impact analyses on multiple lines of business Develop and maintain security standards to maximize flexibility to obtain risk transfer from rated, unrated, and collateralized reinsurers Develop or maintain understanding of catastrophe modeling concepts (as applicable) Build and maintain relationships with reinsurance brokers, reinsurer markets and other external relationships related to ceded reinsurance General Negotiate and manage fronting and capacity relationships for Relm’s Insurance portfolio globally Monitor and communicate quarterly reinsurance contract activity and financial information Assist with reinsurance accounting as needed Maintain updated contract documentation and bordereaus and distribute appropriately Respond to inquiries from underwriting, claims or other disciplines on reinsurance coverage issues Stay current with insurance product/line of business changes and reinsurance industry trends Identify market trends, risk landscape and regulatory developments affecting the business Develop new ideas and innovative products/solutions to address capacity challenges Represent Relm at industry events and with clients, showcasing deep knowledge on market topics All other duties as required What you bring to the table Demonstrated reinsurance underwriting/actuarial acumen with 5-7+ years of industry experience Entrepreneurial mindset to build a reinsurance book from the ground up in a market without an AM Best rating Expertise in crafting tailored reinsurance solutions for unique requirements Strong reinsurance technical skills; actuarial qualification highly preferred Ability to analyze and interpret insurance and reinsurance contracts at an advanced level Extensive knowledge of policy terms and criteria for reinsurance treaties and facultative certificates Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, etc.) Excellent organizational skills and ability to work independently Ability to adjust priorities based on business needs Strong oral, written and interpersonal communication skills Ability to express ideas clearly and produce error-free written documents Ability to work with others across departments to achieve goals College degree in Accounting, Actuarial Management, Business Analytics, Business, Administration, Economics, Finance, Legal Studies, MIS, Risk Management or CPCU Physical requirements Full-time, 40 hours/week In-office position based in New York or Miami Why you’ll love working with us Relm is a team of innovators, creators and collaborators, committed to an inclusive culture where creativity, collaboration and innovation are valued. What we offer The annual salary for this role is USD 180,000 to USD 200,000, depending on experience and qualifications. Paid Public Holidays:
