Position Summary
CMS Energy is seeking a
Senior Engineering Analyst III
to support our gas operations and construction teams on
large gas distribution replacement projects . This role will be
field-based , supporting ongoing construction efforts by leveraging
GIS/GPS technologies
to capture accurate asset data, ensure documentation accuracy, and support construction planning and compliance. You will work onsite at various job locations and be directly involved with crews in the field. Your responsibilities will include data collection using GPS equipment, documentation of as-built changes, coordination with project teams, and ensuring compliance with regulatory and safety standards. Key Responsibilities
Collect
as-installed gas asset information
using
GPS/GIS tools
during gas distribution construction projects. Support field operations by documenting changes in design or location. Use tools like
ArcGIS Pro, ArcMap, ArcGIS Online, and Field Maps
to manage and update geospatial data. Attend and contribute to project meetings including pre-construction planning, technology demonstrations, and operations reviews. Assist in developing and maintaining documentation for GIS/GPS systems and related protocols. Ensure project timelines and data quality standards are met. Travel regularly to construction sites as required. Carry and operate field equipment including
ladders, GPS antennas, iPads, laptops , and other standard tools. Maintain safety and compliance with
MIOSHA Part 10
and
OSHA construction requirements . Required Skills & Qualifications
Education & Experience
(must meet one of the following): Bachelor’s degree
with
3+ years
of relevant experience Associate degree
with
6+ years
of relevant experience High school diploma
with
10+ years
of relevant experience Technical Skills
Solid understanding of
natural gas distribution systems
and construction processes Proficiency in
GIS platforms
(especially ESRI suite) and
GPS data collection Knowledge of
construction safety protocols , print reading, and compliance requirements Familiarity with
utility locating
processes and practices Strong skills in
Microsoft Office
(Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Teams) Ability to handle multiple priorities, communicate effectively, and collaborate with cross-functional teams Preferred Certifications & Training
OSHA 10-Hour Construction Certification
(Required – verified in writing by employer) Excavation Safety & Ladder Safety CPR / First Aid Traffic Control Additional Notes
Candidates must bring documentation verifying completion of required training. Out-of-state candidates must confirm willingness to relocate at their own expense in the submission. Contractors are responsible for their own safety training and compliance verification.
