Engineering Analyst III Contract Duration: Contract through 10/30/2026 (High potential for extension) Location: 3201 E Court St, Flint, MI 48506 Work Arrangement: 100% Onsite (No Remote / No Per Diem) Job Summary:
CMS Energy is seeking a
Senior Engineering Analyst (Engineering Analyst III)
to support large-scale gas distribution replacement projects. This role will serve as an integral part of the field operations team, leveraging GPS and GIS technologies to collect and document as-installed asset data. The position requires strong technical, coordination, and communication skills, as well as hands-on field support in active construction environments. Key Responsibilities
Integrate with operations and construction teams to ensure project execution aligns with plans and standards. Use GPS antennas and GIS applications (ArcGIS Pro, ArcGIS Online, Field Maps) to collect as-installed data for natural gas distribution systems. Document in-field changes during construction and manage data for records development. Maintain and apply documentation processes related to GIS/GPS systems including hardware, software, and protocols. Participate in field meetings, construction reviews, and technology demonstrations. Support complex construction concerns requiring positional accuracy and documentation. Travel to job sites as needed and be available for four 10-hour shifts per week, with potential work on Fridays and Saturdays. Carry field equipment including ladders, GPS tools, iPads, laptops, and other construction-related tools. Required Qualifications
Education & Experience (any of the following):
Bachelor’s Degree + 3 years of applicable work experience Associate Degree + 6 years of applicable work experience High School Diploma + 10 years of applicable work experience
Technical Skills:
Proficiency with GPS/GIS tools and technologies (ArcGIS Pro, ArcMap, ArcGIS Online) Knowledge of natural gas distribution systems and related construction practices Familiarity with surveying principles and GPS antenna hardware/software Ability to read construction prints and understand regulatory/safety requirements Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Teams)
Soft Skills:
Strong coordination, analytical, and communication skills Ability to manage multiple priorities across projects Team-oriented mindset with a willingness to learn new systems and tools
Additional Requirements
Must have or obtain OSHA 10-hour Construction Certification (MIOSHA Part 10 compliant). Must be willing to relocate at personal expense if located outside the driving area. Must be available to work onsite from Day 1. No remote work or per diem provided for this role. Preferred Experience
Utility locator experience Experience with excavation safety, traffic control, and CPR/First Aid Familiarity with operating in rugged field environments (on/off-road access) Remarks

Contractor Oversight Liaison . Candidate location will influence assignment within the lower eastern Michigan peninsula. All candidates must be able to carry and operate assigned field equipment.
