Job Overview The CSP Tech is responsible for decontamination, assembly of instrument sets, operation of steam and Sterrad sterilization, as well as all monitoring processes included with the same.
Qualifications Required:
High School Diploma or equivalent
Preferred:
At least 1 year applicable work experience
Certifications and Licenses Required:
HSPA certification

Essential Functions
Maintain adequate inventory for assembly of instruments and equipment
Perform multiple tasks that assist in the daily operation of all units as well as provide customer service
Orient new employees on the computerized tracking system
Decontaminate and clean all instrumentation received according to established standards and procedures
Decontaminates surgical instruments and other medical equipment as needed, maintaining a continuous flow of equipment through the process
Prepare case carts and trays for decontamination and load into washer and/or sterilizer as prescribed
Operate index washers, cart washers, ultrasonic cleaners and perform manual cleaning of instruments as prescribed
Inspect instruments for cleanliness, function, and integrity
Assemble surgical trays following needs lists and priorities
Use appropriate container, wrap, or pouch according to instrument size
Communicate issues with instrument preparation to the Supervisor
Be proficient in all General instruments and sets as well as all service lines
Precept others on proper inspection and assembly of instrument sets
Sterilize instruments and surgical trays following policies and procedures
Run tests on sterilizers and document parameter compliance
Precept on sterilization
Use chemicals safely with appropriate PPE
Wear PPE in all areas
Support OR schedule by expediting instruments/equipment as needed
Assist in obtaining instruments/equipment for procedures in a timely manner
Have knowledge of basic and complex instrumentation and be competent in all service lines
Competent in implant trays and restocking of sets
Communicate information regarding instrumentation, equipment, and supplies that may affect surgery in a timely manner
Demonstrate knowledge of sterile technique, universal precautions, safety, and disaster protocol
Participate in quality and efficiency improvement activities and attend in-service programs
Maintain strong written and verbal communication and teamwork
Maintain attendance and certification renewal requirements
Orient and precept new employees in Central Sterile Processing
Able to lead the Central Processing Team in the absence of the Manager or Supervisor
Utilize critical thinking to prioritize and perform tasks
