Postdoctoral Fellow – River Coastal Science & Engineering
A post-doctoral scholar position is available to work on morphological changes in Mississippi River crevasse splay deltas and the general mechanics of fine sediment capture on river deltas and floodplains. The work will be conducted at the River‑Coastal Science and Engineering Department at Tulane University, New Orleans, Louisiana, and includes laboratory and field studies with travel to the Mississippi Delta and partner institutions.
Responsibilities
Conduct laboratory experiments and field studies on sediment mechanics and delta morphology.
Analyze data collected from laboratory and field work.
Collaborate with the River‑Coastal Science and Engineering Department and partner institutions.
Qualifications
Doctoral degree in civil engineering, geoscience, or related field.
Expertise in designing and conducting field work and laboratory experiments.
Strong analytical and communication skills.
Position Details
Start date: October 3, 2025 (flexible).
Duration: One year, contingent upon annual review with possibility of extension.
Salary: $65,000 per year plus full benefits.
Employment type: Full‑time.
Seniority level: Internship.
