Your Impact
We are seeking a dependable and experienced Banquet Cook to join our culinary team at Jesuit College in Dallas. In this role, you will support special campus events by preparing high-quality meals for large groups, including faculty, students, alumni, and guests. You will work closely with the Executive Chef and catering staff to ensure all banquet meals are executed with precision, professionalism, and Jesuit values of excellence and service.
REPORTING RELATIONSHIPS
Reports to: Chef and/or Sous Chef
Supervises: N/A
ESSENTIAL ACCOUNTABILITIES
Prepare and cook large quantities of food for banquets, receptions, and catered events according to recipes and menu specifications. Assist with event setup, food presentation, and service as needed. Maintain cleanliness, organization, and sanitation standards in all kitchen and prep areas. Follow food safety protocols including proper handling, storage, and labeling. Monitor and control food quality, portion sizes, and waste. Work collaboratively with other kitchen and event staff to ensure smooth operations. Assist with inventory, receiving, and storing banquet supplies. Flexibility to support other campus culinary operations when banquet schedule permits. Ensures safety of food prepared by following safe sanitary food handling practices- hot food hot and cold food cold. Follows specified cleaning procedures for all cooking equipment. Utilizes proper food storage practices- cover, label, and date. Promote teamwork and quality service through daily communication and coordination with other departments. Perform other duties as assigned.
Knowledge Of:
MINIMUM KNOWLEDGE AND SKILL REQUIREMENTS
Knowledge of cooking methods and procedures, including various types of preparation and related routines. Familiar with kitchen equipment. Safe food handling practices: handling food, objects, products, and utensils Safe knife/sharp handling skills Communication skills are utilized a significant amount of time when interacting with wait staff, cooks, and supervisors. Foodservice experience with general knowledge of restaurant operations. Basic reading and writing.
Skills In:
EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATION
Minimum Required:
Minimum 1–2 years of experience in banquet or high-volume cooking required. Knowledge of large-scale food prep and banquet-style plating/presentation. Ability to read and follow recipes, production sheets, and event schedules. Food Handler Certification (Texas required); ServSafe preferred. Must be able to work evenings, weekends, and flexible schedules based on event needs. Strong teamwork and communication skills. Physical ability to stand for extended periods and lift up to 50 lbs.
Preferred Traits:
Experience in school or institutional food service settings. Commitment to providing excellent service in a faith-based, academic environment. Professional demeanor and pride in food quality and kitchen cleanliness.
LICENSES/CERTIFICATIONS
Minimum Required:
ServSafe Certification, Certified Professional Food Manager (CPFM) or Accredited Food Handler Certificate required within 90 days of hire.
