Advanced Assistant Professor or Associate Professor Department of French and Francophone Studies

Responsibilities

Teach five classes per year spread across three ten-week terms.

Teach French and Francophone language, literature, and culture courses at all levels, from beginning and intermediate through advanced level seminars in the candidate’s area of expertise.

Possible opportunities to teach in an off-campus study program and to collaborate with Africana Studies and other disciplines.

Demonstrate an engaged, dynamic, and communicative teaching style, with a commitment to scholarly research and publishing.

Qualifications

Ph.D. in French or a related field. ABD will be considered, but preference will be given to candidates who will have completed their degree prior to the start of the appointment on September 1, 2026.

Native or near-native oral and written communication in French and English.

Demonstrated excellence in undergraduate teaching.

Salary and Benefits The expected starting salary range for this position is between $87,480 and $115,000. Actual pay will be adjusted based on job-related factors permitted by law, such as experience and training; licensure and certifications; market factors; departmental budgets; and responsibility.
