The Oceanography undergraduate program at Cal Poly Humboldt is one of only two programs in California leading to a Bachelor of Science degree in Oceanography. Our program has an international reputation and we give every undergraduate student the kind of research experience most schools reserve for Master’s students. At Cal Poly Humboldt, our students learn by doing. We have both a fully-equipped marine lab and a true oceanic research vessel, the R/V Coral Sea, which is dedicated to undergraduate classes and research. Our students also get a broad foundation in mathematics, biology, chemistry, geology, and physics, as well as effective written and oral communication skills. Courses offered by the department include: Resources of the Sea, General Oceanography, Biological Oceanography, Chemical Oceanography, Geological Oceanography, Zooplankton Ecology, Oceans and Climate, and Field Cruise. Qualifications

M.S. /M.A. or equivalent in related field along with evidence of mastery in the area being taught and successful teaching experience are required; consideration may also be given to strong professional background in the field. For a limited number of courses, consideration may be given to B.A. /B.S. degree in the appropriate field along with successful teaching experience or strong professional background in the field.
