Contracts Specialist Sr. - experienced (Aerospace) Position summary and responsibilities focus on complex, high-value contracting opportunities critical to long-term business success. The role may lead project teams overseeing a set of complex contracts across assigned customers, market segments, product lines/programs, systems contracts, or key strategic contracts. Serves as a subject expert and internal consultant on contracting processes, regulatory requirements, negotiation techniques, and risk evaluation. Responsibilities

Leads complex negotiations of strategic significance to the division. Negotiates essential contract terms and conditions within a broad scope of responsibility. Provides guidance on contract change proposals. Addresses contract challenges that may set precedents for future negotiations. Makes proactive recommendations for contract changes on high-scope, high-complexity programs. Focuses attention on contract risk across assigned programs and ensures contract provisions are clear and conform to company policy. Administers and oversees highly competitive and unique contract requirements by analyzing performance and customer purchase order requirements, including Basic Contract Agreements and Long-Term Agreements. Analyzes delivery schedules, pricing, terms and conditions, and other provisions; maintains accurate contract files and records of changes. Determines technically and commercially compliant complex proposal packages for major customers. Reviews performance requirements, delivery schedules, and cost estimates of material, equipment, and labor hours. Initiates the bid process, coordinates input from other functions, develops responses to requests for proposals (RFPs), and prepares complex proposals with significant, long-term financial impact at the Division or Group level. Investigates and resolves claims or complaints. Coordinates with relevant functions on technical and/or quality issues and data requirements. Monitors contract performance for compliance and determines the need for amendments or extensions; assesses when changes are out-of-scope. Acts as the primary customer contact on assigned contracts and may participate in customer presentations. Leads initiatives to improve internal systems and processes, analyzes complex data, and recommends actions; analyzes proposed changes in methods. Maintains current professional and technical knowledge by participating in professional associations (e.g., NCMA). Ensures compliance with federal, state, and aerospace industry regulations; identifies actions to implement required changes. Acts as a consultant to management on major contractual matters, communicating analysis, data interpretation, and decision guidance. May serve as a spokesperson on policies or programs. Serves as a functional expert, identifies mentoring needs, and trains/mentors less experienced employees. May provide leadership to others in the department or ad-hoc teams. Participates in high-performance team initiatives and lean/kaizen events. Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration or a related field. Contracts management certification preferred. Advanced degree (MS/MBA/JD) may be preferred. Typically requires ten or more years of related experience with increasing responsibility; demonstrated ability to plan and lead projects. Ability to manage contracts across distributed sites or multiple divisions. Subject matter expert in contract management during pre-bid, bid, and post-award phases; ability to negotiate effectively on comprehensive proposals with major business impact. Understanding of financial considerations and the linkage between business and contract areas; knowledge of financial aspects of business and program management. Ability to solve a wide range of unique problems of considerable scope and complexity, potentially requiring new approaches or significant deviations from standard procedures. Ability to advise on advanced contract administration principles, industry practices, regulations, and policies; knowledge of complex legal and regulatory requirements related to contract administration and government procurement, including international compliance.
