Duties/Responsibilities
Work in laboratory, greenhouse and field to study commercial cole crops fields for the distribution of fungicide resistance among Alternaria sp. using traditional and molecular methods.
Decipher modes of seed infection and associated mitigation strategies.
Continue graduate student course credits.
Write reports, and present data in symposiums.
Percentage Of Time :
60% – surveying commercial cole crops fields for fungicide resistance among Alternaria sp. using traditional and molecular methods.
20% – continue graduate student course credits.

Position Summary This will be a Ph.D. position starting Spring 2021 in the Department of Plant Pathology, College of Agricultural and Environmental Sciences, The University of Georgia – Tifton campus. The position is based in Coastal Plain Experiment Station in GA. The successful candidate will be responsible for surveying commercial cole crops fields for the distribution of fungicide resistance among Alternaria sp. using traditional and molecular methods. Candidate should have completed a Master’s Degree in Plant Pathology, and be interested in basic and applied research in Plant Pathology. Candidate will have the opportunity to work in a multi-state and multi-disciplinary team of scientists with ample opportunities to interact directly with stakeholders.
Relevant/Preferred Education, Experience, Licensure, Certification In Position
M.S. degree in Plant Pathology
Experience with mycology and bioinformatics are preferred but not required.
Physical Demands Light lifting, standing and/or sitting for extended periods of time.
