The City of Bend Police Department is actively seeking qualified Lateral Officer applicants to join our team as Police Officers. Starting Salary: $87,857.52 up to $114,668 (with Advanced DPSST certification) Uniforms and Gear provided Work Schedule: 11.25-hour shifts, four days on, four days off Wellness Programs: On-duty workouts, onsite mental health clinician, functional fitness Educational Reimbursements: Available Incentives: Walking, biking, or carpooling to work; moving expenses reimbursement (up to $2,000) Additional Benefits: As noted within the Collective Bargaining Agreement Community Enhancement Program: Additional 2% to gross wages Language Fluency: $1.50 per hour increase for fluent languages other than English (as approved by the Chief) VA On-the-Job training program available for Veterans Lateral Opportunities

Experienced lateral candidates who are certified officers and have completed their agency's Field Training program may receive competitive wages and benefits. Pay steps vary by experience. Pay Step 2: $7,321.46 (6-18 months solo officer experience) Pay Step 3: $7,687.54 (18-30 months solo officer experience) Pay Step 4: $8,071.82 (30-42 months solo officer experience) Pay Step 5: $8,475.52 (42+ months solo officer experience) Lateral officers may earn up to an additional 10% or 15% premium pay (depending on DPSST qualifications) Out-of-state reciprocity support available Responsibilities and Duties

The following duties are not a comprehensive list but provide representative responsibilities for the role. As a Police Officer you will: Carry out the agency mission and promote core values Respond to incidents, investigate, enforce laws, patrol, and engage in proactive policing Attend judicial proceedings and provide credible testimony Prepare reports, collect evidence, conduct investigations, and interview witnesses and suspects Direct traffic, perform arrests or citations, and render first aid as needed Coordinate with other agencies and perform community policing duties Document, preserve, and transport evidence; maintain safety and handle emergencies as directed Maintain professional conduct and safety practices; operate vehicles and equipment Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications: Must be at least 21 years old Have completed a law enforcement field training program or completed 1 year as a full-time sworn officer Have been employed as a full-time sworn officer within the last five years Be able to obtain DPSST certification or reciprocity Required Licenses & Certifications: Pass a comprehensive background investigation, including criminal history Current valid Driver’s License Ability to obtain CJIS certification Work Environment

24-hour operation with varied shifts, including weekends and holidays. Patrol in assigned areas with exposure to weather, hazards, weapons, traffic, and crime scenes.
